I’m a single mom of three girls. Their dad has nothing to do with them, and I don’t get much child support. Maybe 3 payments per year. I work a full-time job and a part-time job, both jobs I basically work alone. I have my own house and car. I have everything I should have to be happy except for a partner. I want someone supportive and positive. My kids’ dad was abusive and neglectful. My ex of 3 years was controlling and angry. My question is: What are some good ways to socialize with a potential honest and trustworthy date with having a busy schedule like mine?

Find Some Time to Go Out and Meet People
“Once you know you’re ready for a relationship emotionally and all that…find time to go out and mingle. Girls’ night! Or hint to friends you’re ready and looking. But because you’ve got it together, there are going to be some not-so-decent ones playing some games, trying to get a sugar momma… Just know your worth and don’t accept anything less, regardless of your need or desire for attention.”
The Perfect Partner May Not Be What You’re Expecting
“I know this sounds cliché, but trust me when you read this… you will meet your person at the most unexpected time. Your partner may not be what you’ve been drawn to in the past, but you will just click and you’ll know. Good luck and don’t rush things, it’ll happen.”
It’s Time to Fire Up Tinder
“Sounds like you are describing me!!! Same situation (except I have 2 daughters), and I’m happy and content being single. You should be very proud of yourself for working your ass off and supporting your kids. Try Tinder at least, then, most of the time you can stalk their Facebook. Keep it up, momma!”

It’s Work Finding Someone, But It’s Worth It
“I met my fiancé online (Plenty of Fish) 4 years ago. Since then we’ve bought a house together, got engaged, got 2 dogs and a baby on the way.
I met a fair few frogs before he found me, but it was worth everything I went through.”
How to Meet Single Dads
“Sports! Girl, put your kids in SPORTS! There are single hot dads at the fields all the time lol, and if they are at practice with their kid, they tend to be a genuine kinda guy lol.”
Go the Friends Route
“Well, me and my husband were friends first. We lost contact for 2 years and reconnected on Facebook. Then we started hanging out again as friends first, then started dating.”
Why Not Stay Single?
“Girl, you do not need a man. Stay single and keep working on your life and your girls’ lives. If it’s meant to be, then you’ll find him when you’re not looking and while you’re living life.”
And it would seem we have some good takeaways here:
- Get on the dating apps
- Love happens when you least expect it to
- Know your worth
- Just put yourself out there (on apps, by trying to meet people at events, etc.)
This all sounds like strong advice, in our opinions. In the end, we say start putting yourself out there, see who you meet, and don’t settle for less than what you and your daughters need. We’ll cross our fingers for you, Mama!
