This timeline lays out everything you need to know about Mama June, Honey Boo Boo, and the ongoing drama occurring within their family.
Mama June (aka June Shannon) has been battling a serious drug addiction for months and her family cites her tumultuous relationship with boyfriend Geno Doak as a root cause for her addiction. Mama June began dating Geno in 2016. Their dramatic relationship has included a proposal, death threats, arrests, and judge’s orders to stay away from one another.
In just the past few months, there have been many low moments for Mama June and Geno, as well as for her family. Here’s everything we know so far:
March 2019: Mama June’s Arrest
Before Mama June and Geno were arrested on March 16, her family staged an intervention (a clip of which was featured in last month’s season finale of Mama June: From Not to Hot on WE TV). Mama June’s children, Honey Boo Boo and Pumpkin, begged their mother to enter rehab and break up with Geno. After the traumatic intervention, the family was able to convince Mama June to enter rehab. She was driven to the facility that night. However, she left after only 12 hours.
Two days later, Mama June and Geno were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, including a crack pipe and a pill bottle with white residue (which Mama June admitted was crack cocaine). The couple was arrested at a gas station in Alabama after someone had called the police following a domestic violence incident at their home. According to WFSA 12 News, Mama June was released on bond the same night of her arrest.
April 2019: Mama June and Geno Doak Lay Low
Mama June and Geno mainly layed low in Alabama, though they continued to be spotted hanging out late-night at local casinos.
May 2019: Honey Boo Boo Drama Heats Up
In the finale of Mama June: From Not to Hot, it’s revealed that Honey Boo Boo is now under the care of her sister Pumpkin, who is currently her legal guardian. She shared with her mom that she feels “unsafe” in her home and had to move out.

June 2019: Mama June Awaits Criminal Hearing
Following her arrest in March, Mama June is facing several years in jail and is not allowed to leave the state of Alabama until her hearing, the date of which is currently unknown.
