This Mom’s Viral Postpartum Photo and Message Is So Refreshing We Just Had to Share It

We all know that Instagram can be a world filled with highly-filtered images of everyone living their best lives, so it’s refreshing as heck to see moms getting real on the oftentimes-superficial platform. Norweigian blogger and mom Sara Emiliee recently shared a shockingly relatable postpartum photo in which she highlighted the not-so-glamorous side of her life, and it’s no wonder it’s gone viral.

The mother of two let the world in on her reality two days postpartum, complete with breast pads and an adult diaper.

“This picture really shows my reality and how I looked after going through labor,” Sara’s caption begins. “Social media is a place where you often share your best sides, memories and fake your own reality. When I look back in my pictures, this is the one that makes me smile. Because this is a memory, a reality and a pretty great one. Don’t compare yourself and think you are any less beautiful, because you don’t stand 2 days postpartum smiling in a cute dress in full makeup. We all have been there, in our diapers missing a shower.”

This post comes after Sara initially shared a more glamorous postpartum photo with her followers. “The first picture I posted of myself after birth on Instagram was 2 days postpartum in a beautiful summer dress, with makeup, false lashes and curls in my hair.” See that photo below:

Although she is a master at curating a stunning #momlife collection of images, Sara has also gotten candid about topics like gravity, exhaustion, varicose veins, technology, and weight. While we love Sara’s flowing dresses and Pinterest-worthy braids, we love it even more when she puts it all out there with #nofilter.
