Amy Schumer Continues to Keep It Real (and Funny) in “Apology” for Mesh Underwear Photo

Amy Schumer, who recently gave birth to her first child, son Gene Attell, had the last laugh about her recent postpartum fashion choice, in which she posted images of herself on Instagram sporting mesh underwear.

If the words “mesh underwear” give you uncomfortable flashbacks, congratulations, you’ve had a baby! If you are horrified by the term or thinking “why would they even make such a thing?!,” you most likely haven’t yet experienced the joys of birth which include, among other things, very fetching mesh underwear: pretty much the only undergarments you can comfortably wear after labor.

In Schumer’s photos, Schumer is seen pushing Archie in the stroller while wearing the “hospital underwear,” sans pants. She captioned the photo, “5 weeks. Hospital underwear for life.”

For the most part, fans supported the look with comments like, “Thanks for being so raw and vulnerable about the realities of post-partum life,” said Tess Holiday. While @colleen said, “I was more of a diaper girl myself. But the hospital underwear was glorious too.” Snooki simply commented, “DEAD.”

Of course, there were some negative comments as well, but Schumer didn’t take them to heart. (She knows a thing or two about dealing with mom-shamers!) The day after she posted the image of herself in the mesh underwear, she posted a photo of her wearing an all-black outfit, sunglasses, and a baseball cap.

Schumer captioned the photo, “I’m really sorry if I offended anyone with my hospital underwear. Except I’m just kidding. #csection #balmain.” Her fans supported her, saying “What I love most about your posts is your realness. Hospital underwear and all!!! ☺ thanks for the smiles,” said @lettucedish.

Once again, Schumer found a way to turn it around on the haters, and as always, the comedian gets the last laugh.

Here’s to more candidness from Amy Schumer (and her mesh underwear) soon!
