We’ve heard of deer sightings in backyards, but not in someone’s bathroom! Last week, not one, not two, but three deer broke into a 74-year-old woman’s apartment and made themselves right at home at Adams Woodcrest Retirement Village in Indiana. The local police department received a call that three deer had jumped through her window and were wreaking havoc in her apartment, they shared in a statement on Facebook.
The Decatur Police Department shared an update on their Facebook page with photos of and details about the incident.

Their message reads:
Tonight officers with the Decatur Police Department and Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at Woodcrest retirement village reference 3 deer that had jumped thru a window into a residents apartment. Upon arrival officers quickly discovered the resident still sitting on her couch with one of the deer jumping back and forth across her and around the living room. Deputy Kukelhan entered the apartment and laid across the elderly occupant, shielding her from certain injury until Corporal Patrick Piper and Officer Reid Arnold were able to assist the resident out of the apartment. The deer were then removed one at a time. 2 deer had to be tranquilized and helped off the property. Great job to all officers and personnel involved!

When the police arrived at her home, they found her on the couch while a deer ran around the living room. Deputy Kukelhan was on the scene and shielded the elderly women from getting attacked by the deer until his colleagues, Corporal Patrick Piper and Officer Reid Arnold, could help her out of the house, the police shared in their Facebook statement.
Sgt. Kevin Gerber told the Associated Press that the woman “wasn’t injured and remained amazingly calm throughout the terrifying ordeal.”
After the woman was safely out of the house, the officers worked to remove the deer from the premises.
The police department shared images from the scene, including a picture of two of the deer hiding out in her bathroom and the three officers tackling one of the deer.
The Associated Press reported that the woman is uninjured from the incident, though her apartment was badly damaged.
“Two deer had to be tranquilized and helped off the property,” police said. “Great job to all officers and personnel involved!”
