Fitness Blogger Katrina Scott Shares Inspirational, Empowering Message About Her Postpartum Body

Many moms struggle with weight loss after having a baby and even fitness junkies aren’t immune. Fitness blogger and ToneItUp co-founder Katrina Scott had her first child, Isabelle Margaret, a little more than 9 months ago, and she recently shared some powerful words about her postpartum body.

On Instagram, where she has nearly 325,000 followers, Scott shared photos of her postpartum body journey. She recently posted a side-by-side picture of herself 3 months postpartum and 9 months postpartum. She noted in her caption that many people told her she would have her body back after three months, but in reality, it took much longer. She said, “3 months is where everyone kept telling me I’d be ‘back’ to where I was. I’d have the fitness SnapBack. That wasn’t my journey.”

officially 9 months postpartum ???? instead of posting a pic at 9 months pregnant, I chose a pic at 3 months postpartum because 3 months is where everyone kept telling me I’d be “back” to where I was. I’d have the fitness SnapBack. That wasn’t my journey. On the left, I was not disappointed… nor was I sad that I didn’t live up to the expectation a lot of people had on me. In fact, I was the opposite— I was happy, proud & body positive. And my mind was healthy… I mean, I made it through the 4th trimester! Woohoo???????? On the right, I’m equally happy, proud & body positive. I feel healthy & strong for my daughter. I truly believe that giving yourself patience, grace, & kindness each day leads to progress & strength. Imagine if I was hard on myself, ate my emotions, hated the body that gave me a beautiful daughter, or if I tried to live up to what I thought everyone expected of me? I don’t think I would be where I am today. It would have led to me feeling like I failed myself & everyone who followed me. It would have led to self-sabotage & maybe I’d be stuck bc I wouldn’t think I deserved self-love. So what matters most? The way we speak to ourselves. I want u to know that ur postpartum body is remarkable. For me, I appreciate my tiger marks, my dimples that stayed on my booty cheeks, my tummy that expands more than ever when I eat, & the new skin I’m in. I also love that I can do yoga, I can do our @ToneItUp postnatal workouts & I can carry Bella around for 12 hours a day! Everyone’s journey looks different & every mom has her own unique path~ so let’s not compare our chapter 1 or 3 to someone else’s chapter 30. If ur feeling down or defeated, I want u to know it’s ok. Start with this 1 thing—kindness. Everything u say to ur body is important bc it’s listening. And someday, that baby of yours will hear u too. Do it for her (or him!). So start now. Start with “I am beautiful. I am capable. I am worthy of my goals & dreams. I am exactly where I need to be today. I can do this. I am loved. And I am so grateful for this body, my beating heart & my beautiful mind.” Every decision u make, make it with self-love and because you deserve it. Love u girls. Xx #TIUmom

Scott was also candid that she was “happy, proud and body positive” at both three and nine months postpartum. She shared her body-positive message, saying, “I truly believe that giving yourself patience, grace, & kindness each day leads to progress & strength.”

She continued, “I want u to know that ur postpartum body is remarkable. If ur feeling down or defeated, I want u to know it’s ok.”

Bella’s face when she sees mommy’s new abs coming through during a Studio Tone It Up Workout ???? My hips are wider, I’m still 15 pounds heavier than I was pre-pregnancy, but I’m not trying to go backwards, because this is my new body and I’m finding my NEW strength! Swipe to see where I was 5 months ago. I haven’t been in a rush and I consistently do a little bit each day, even if it’s a walk or stretch. I didn’t used breastfeeding as a form of weight loss and just focused on bonding and feeding my baby. I still choose laying around with her over workouts all the time. And I’ve done things on my own time with patience, grace, and body positivity. I do @ToneItUp App workouts a few times a week (the LIVE classes help me so much bc I’m held accountable!), we go on walks, and I recently started slogging… slow jogging for 20-30 minutes a couple times a week ???? It’s actually only happened a handful of times, but I’m into it bc it’s quick and time is more precious than ever! I hope this inspires you to take your time— to never be in a rush to be who you were before, to move forward, to set NEW goals, and to do just a little each day, because everything counts! When we put pressure on ourselves to do A LOT quickly, we feel like we fail if we miss a workout, we think we have to start over, we miss what’s around us, and we get frustrated. You deserve to give yourself love each day~ I promise with patience, kindness, and consistent workouts when you can squeeze in an app workout or a walk/slog ????, you’ll find your new rhythm and lifestyle! You’ve got this. Ps- new mamas, check out the postnatal section in the Tone It Up app! New workouts coming in the next week too! ???????? #tiuteam #tiucommunity #tiumom

Her fans loved the post and responded with messages like, “Amazing message! My daughter is almost 3 and I’m STILL figuring out my postpartum body. Thank you for being so honest and open!” and “I love this. Especially what you said about not being sad about the expectations that others put on you. If we aren’t happy in our own skin we can’t be happy no matter whose image we are trying to live up to. You are beautiful.”

Scott ended her post encouraging her followers to speak kindly to themselves. “Start with ‘I am beautiful. I am capable. I am worthy of my goals & dreams.’ I am exactly where I need to be today. I can do this. I am loved. And I am so grateful for this body, my beating heart & my beautiful mind.”
