Jessica Simpson Was Mom-Shamed (Again) for Letting Her Daughter Dye Her Hair

Jessica Simpson was once again a victim of online mom-shaming. (Some things never change!) The mom-of-three shared a photo of her 7-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew sporting freshly-dyed locks on Instagram, and, well… you can probably guess what happened next.

The singer and her daughter were at the popular Nine Zero One hair salon in Los Angeles, where “Maxi” had the ends of her blonde hair dyed purple after being inspired by the Disney’s The Descendants. (Dove Cameron’s character, Mal, rocks purple hair on the show.) Many followers were outraged, saying that her daughter was “too young” for hair dye and that she had “ruined her hair.”

Thankfully, many fans came to the proud mom’s defense, applauding her for letting her daughter “express herself.”

Simpson is hardly a stranger to the online shame game. In addition to being shamed by commenters nearly every time she posts something related to her family, Simpson has also had to deal with vicious comments about her weight for years. It’s happened so much and for so long, Simpson has even turned it into somewhat of a running joke, allowing herself to have the last laugh.

So true to form, the actress, singer, and fashion designer didn’t let the hate get her down. She went on to share post-workout snuggles with her littlest Birdie Mae and husband Eric Johnson. The birthday girl also announced that she will soon be releasing a memoir.

“I have been waiting for so long to share some exciting news…I will be releasing my first book on February 4th with @harpercollinsus. I have been working so hard on it – I have opened my heart up in a way I never have before and now I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Mom-shamers can keep hating all they want; it doesn’t seem to be slowing the Simpson family down.
