A 22-month-old baby girl recently survived a traumatic fall down an embankment in northwest Arkansas, local firefighters told NBC News. The girl’s mother and a friend were walking in the hilly area, which is located above Lake Atalanta, when the mom lost control of the stroller.
The stroller then flew down the steep hill and stopped just before going into some water. The mom and her friend ran as quickly as possible after the stroller and caught the child. Fortunately, the girl was secured in the stroller and was safe. The stroller had been stopped by a tree.

Unfortunately, though, the mom broke her ankle as she ran down the embankment, and the trio found themselves stuck at the bottom. Luckily, firefighters from the Rogers Fire Department arrived soon getting up to safety.
“[We] packaged her into a basket and ended up using the ropes and a mechanical advantage to go ahead and retrieve the patient and bring her and the child and the other bystander back up over the embankment,” Rogers Fire Captain Josh Chapman told KFSM-TV about the rescue.
“Not to overplay anything,” Chapman continued, “it’s a bit of a miracle that the tree caught her just right and kept her from going into the water. You can call it luck, divine intervention, a miracle, whatever you like.”
The child and the mom’s friend didn’t have any injuries, fortunately. “All in all it was a win because nobody had an permanent injuries,” Chapman told KFSM-TV.
A miracle indeed!
