This Mom Broke World Records Running a Marathon with Her Three Kids in a Stroller, Proving Superheroes Do Exist

We can all admit that running a marathon is really hard, but running a marathon with three kids?! It seems downright impossible. Mom Cynthia Arnold, 35, though, has proven that it’s not only possible, but you can do it in record time.

Arnold, who lives with her family in Montana, has run numerous marathons and half-marathons, all while pushing her three kids in a stroller. It should be noted that pushing three kids and a stroller adds about 185 pounds to her run (whew!).

On top of that very impressive accomplishment, she recently also broke the record for the “fastest marathon run while pushing a three-person stroller,” according to a People story.

The mom of three has been running for most of her life, so it seemed only natural that her children would run along with her after they were born. She typically goes for shorter distances when she runs with her children, ages six, four and one.

This isn’t the first time the super mom has broken a record: In 2018, she broke the half-marathon record for running the race with her three kids in a triple stroller. She then ran the Missoula, Montana marathon and broke records again, running the 26.2-mile race in a mere three hours and eleven minutes.

“I generally would run when they needed to take a nap,” Arnold told People. “And they would just fall asleep in the stroller … It kind of went from that to being, if they aren’t taking a nap, maybe it’s just time for them to sit down and have some quiet time and they’ll just be in the stroller. That definitely helps.”

Her kids stayed entertained during runs and races by looking at wildlife, people on the sidelines, and by playing games like “I Spy” with their parents.

“Because there was so much activity and excitement at the race, they did really well at the race,” Arnold continued. “And they knew what we were doing. We had talked about it a lot.”

Arnold’s oldest child is now in second grade so it’s getting harder to fit them in the triple stroller, especially for longer distances. Arnold is considering participating in a couple more races before the kids grow out of the stroller, she told People.

Until that point, she can bask in being one of the most successful mom marathoners to date.
