Beyoncé Says 7-Year-Old Daughter Blue Ivy Is a ‘Cultural Icon’ in Ongoing Trademark Dispute

There is no doubt that the young daughter of living legends Beyoncé and Jay-Z is a superstar. But at 7-years-old, is Blue Ivy already a “cultural icon”?

It’s not surprising that mama Beyoncé would be fiercely protective when it comes to her daughter’s name and image. While attempting to have the name Blue Ivy Carter officially trademarked, the Lion King star has come against a major roadblock.

The legal process has stalled thanks to a dispute with a wedding planner, Veronica Morales, who owns the small business Blue Ivy Events.

Veronica claims that this has been her business name for years, far before the name was given to 7-year-old Blue Ivy.

According to recently filed court documents,  Beyoncé claims that her daughter is a “cultural icon” and that she is attempting to trademark “Blue Ivy Carter,” not simply “Blue Ivy.”

It has also been claimed that the Blue Ivy Events owner has profited off of little Blue Ivy’s name by offering special promotions on her birthday.

It doesn’t sound like this conflict is wrapping up anytime soon, as The Blast has reported that the two are expected to go to trial over the great name dispute. Stay tuned for more updates as this legendary mama goes to court.

It’s sort of hard to argue with the idea that Blue Ivy Carter is a cultural icon, even though she’s only seven. After all, she’s upstaged her own mom a few times this year already. Little icon, indeed!
