Massachusetts Dad Arrested After His 5-Year-Old Son Brought a Bag of Heroin to School, Said It Made Him ‘Feel Like Spider-Man’

A dad in Holyoke, Massachusetts was arrested after his 5-year-old son brought a bag of heroin to school. The boy showed the drugs to his teacher, telling her he puts it in his mouth and that it makes him “feel like Spider-Man.”

After seeing the drugs, the teacher immediately notified the principal who called the police.

The boy brought a small bag of the drugs to his elementary school, Lt. Jim Albert of the Holyoke Police told NBC News. The boy went to the hospital to be tested for drugs, but police do not believe he took any since the package was sealed.

Police went to the boy’s house and arrested his father, Benny Garcia. They found 38 bags of cocaine and 70 bags of heroin at the house. Holyoke Police Lt. James Albert reported that Garcia had an outstanding warrant for narcotics and is now facing additional charges for child endangerment.

The young boy and his sibling, a baby, were both taken in child protective services.

“He loves Spider-Man,” Lt. Albert said of the 5-year-old boy. “Our officers were quite taken by it all. You don’t often deal with this.”

Garcia appeared in Holyoke District Court on Wednesday. His bail was revoked and he will spend at least 90 days in jail. He will next be in court on December 17.
