90 Day Fiancé’s Geoffrey Paschel Gets 18-Year Prison Sentence for Kidnapping and Assault

The former 90 Day Fiancé′ star Geoffrey Paschel has been sentenced to 18-years in prison for kidnapping and assaulting.

The 44-year-old was sentenced without the possibility of parole this past Thursday.

The sentencing came about four months after Geoffrey was convicted of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-fiancée in 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen released a statement that described the events that led to Geoffrey’s arrest and ultimate conviction.

On June 9, the D.A. said the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a domestic disturbance in west Knoxville.

When officers arrived at the scene, a woman claimed she had been assaulted by Geoffrey in her home, and was prohibited from leaving the property. She told authorities she managed to escape from the house after Paschel had fallen asleep.

Per the DA’s statement:

Paschel grabbed the victim by the neck and slammed her head against the wall several times. She was also thrown to the ground and dragged. Paschel took the victim’s cell phone and did not allow her to leave the residence. The victim fled to a neighbor’s house after Paschel fell asleep. Officers noted a large, raised bruise on the victim’s forehead along with bruises and abrasions on her back, arms, and the inside of her lip.

Paschel denied assaulting the victim and insisted her injuries were self-inflicted. However, after an hour and 45 minutes of deliberation, a jury found Paschel guilty of aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and interference with emergency calls.

“With the sentence in this case, no other victims will be abused by this offender for a long time,” Allen said.

Paschel appeared on season 4 of TLC’s 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, which premiered in 2020. Viewers urged the network to remove Paschel from series in wake of his domestic abuse scandal, while other noted Paschel’s previous criminal history, which included multiple drug trafficking charges.

His prior convictions include possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, as well as two federal drug trafficking charges. Paschel starred on season four of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days which followed his relationship with Varya Malina, whom he got engaged to during the show’s filming. This was after the assault on his other ex-fiancée.

During his seasons, many demanded his removal from the series “due to current allegations and criminal charges made against him.”

A few days later, Paschel addressed the allegations in an Instagram post, proclaiming his intentions for appearing on the reality show were pure.

“I have been repeatedly asked why I would EVER want to be on a show (the best show FYI) where my life would be put in front of everyone to pick apart—especially with my checkered past,” he began. “Well, guys, it is MY past. It is MY life. It is MY choice. If we were all the same: thought the same, looked the same, or acted the same, how lame would that be?”
