Most parents are guilty of telling little white lies to their children from time to time, usually in order to avoid an undesirable activity, whether it be going to a particular store or playing a mundane game for the millionth time. And what’s true of parents and kids is, sometimes, true of couples.
Katherine Thornalley, mom of two and Mrs. Mombastic blogger, recently shared on Facebook that her husband always says he has to poop when he’s in the middle of doing something, resulting in him stopping what he’s doing and forcing Katherine to take care of things.

To be fair, it’s not entirely clear whether or not her husband actually has to poop, but it feels, shall we say, convenient that he so often gets out of finishing up tedious tasks in order to make it to the bathroom. It happens so frequently, in fact, that Katherine calls it his “get out of jail free card.”
Katherine also lamented that she would never get away with using that excuse. “Since becoming a mother, I have never once used this excuse,” she wrote in the post. “Stopping midway through getting the children ready and using my ablutions as an excuse… and believe me, my bowels have not been STRENGTHENED by childbirth.”
After finally having had enough, she recently told her husband “no” when he tried to hand off making breakfast. She reported that he was not only able to finish making breakfast before using the bathroom, he also unloaded the dishwasher and talked to his wife.
She shared the story on Facebook and got quite the response. As of this writing, it has more than 10,000 shares and 14,000 comments, with many women sharing that their husbands do something very similar.

We think Katherine’s story — and the stories of thousands of women who have experienced the same thing — will inspire women to say “no” in the face of faux bathroom emergencies and to call out (almost literal) bullsh*t when confronted with it.
