Michelle Trachtenberg Says Joss Whedon Was Not Allowed Alone with Her on ‘Buffy’ Set After Mysterious Incident

‘The Joss Whedon reckoning continues after Michelle Trachtenberg released an updated statement about the director’s behavior on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In the latest claim, the actor who played Dawn Summers in the series from 2000-2003, said that a rule was put in place that Whedon was not allowed to be alone with her on the set following an unnamed incident.

Trachtenberg was only fifteen years old when she took the role and began working on Buffy. The star’s latest claims follow other costars coming forward with their own revelations about Whedon’s unacceptable behavior as a leader on the show.

Joss Whedon was not allowed along with Michelle Trachtenberg, a teenage actor on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer after an unnamed incident.

“The last. Comment I will make on this. Was. There was a rule. Saying. He’s not allowed in a room alone with Michelle again,” Trachtenberg commented on Instagram. She did not offer further details about who established the rule or why it was put in place in the first place.

The comment was on a repost of Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s statement which caused a stir after Gellar wrote, “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.”

“Thank you @sarahmgellar for saying this,” Trachtenberg wrote in her caption. “I am brave enough now as a 35 year old woman….To repost this. Because. This must. Be known. As a teenager. With his not appropriate behavior….very. Not. Appropriate. So now. People know. What Joss. Did.”

Both Gellar and Trachtenberg’s statements followed that of costar Charisma Carpenter who wrote candidly about Joss Whedon’s behavior and said that some of the incidents with him still “traumatize me to this day.”

In a heartbreaking statement, Charisma Carpenter wrote about the trauma she is still unpacking after working with Joss Whedon for Buffy and the spinoff series Angel.

Carpenter shared a candid statement on social media Wednesday sharing details of Whedon’s alleged behavior.

The actress said that at one point, Whedon asked her if she planned to “keep” her baby after learning she was pregnant, and ultimately, fired her shortly after she gave birth.

“He proceeded to attack my character, mock my religious beliefs, accuse me of sabotaging the show, and then unceremoniously fired me the following season once I gave birth,” she claimed.

“Back then, I felt powerless and alone,” Carpenter’s statement said. “With no other option, I swallowed the mistreatment and carried on.”

Whedon was accused by actor Ray Fisher last year of being “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” while they worked together on the set of Justice League in 2017.

An internal investigation by WarnerMedia followed Fisher’s claims, which Carpenter participated in. When the investigation concluded in December 2020, the company said that “remedial action has been taken.”

Responding to Carpenter’s allegations Wednesday, Fisher called the actress “one of the bravest people I know.”

“I am forever grateful for her courage and for her lending her voice to the Justice League investigation,” he said on Twitter. “Read her truth. Share her truth. Protect her at all costs.”

We have no further details on what “remedial action” was taken by WarnerMedia, but we certainly hope the studio, and others in the future, will take into account the words of so many who have worked with this man in the past.
