Chances are you might have heard about this little interview Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did with Oprah. It was absolutely explosive! Oprah proved that she is the best interviewer in the game for the millionth time as she asked Meghan details about the hardships she faced while trying to perform her royal role.
What is not making as many headlines is the happy news that Meghan and Harry shared with their fans. The couple announced that they would be having a baby girl, a little sister to Archie. They also discussed the possibility of more kids in the future.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry told Oprah that child number 2 will be a baby girl.
“To have a boy then a girl, what more can you ask for?” Harry told Oprah in the sit-down interview.
They also said they won’t have any more children following their baby girl’s arrival, “Two is it,” the couple responded to Oprah after she asked about their future family plans.
“Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl,” Harry said of learning the baby’s sex. “Now, we’ve got our family and we’ve got four of us.”
Their baby girl’s due date is this summer, Meghan told Oprah while they tended to rescued chickens at their California home.
Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy news with a striking black-and-white photo that was taken remotely via iPad by their friend and longtime photographer, Misan Harriman. In the photo, Harry cradles Meghan’s head in his lap while Meghan smiles and touches her baby bump.
The big announcement was made on Valentine’s Day, in a sweet tribute to Princess Diana, Harry’s mother who announced her pregnancy on the same day in 1984.

The little one will be a rainbow baby for the couple. The announcement came just months after Markle wrote of her “almost unbearable grief” after suffering a miscarriage in July 2020.
“Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,” she wrote in the honest and heartbreaking New York Times essay.

Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, officially stepped down from their royal roles last year. Their wish to have a normal family life played a huge role in their groundbreaking decision to part with ways with their roles.
The couple have been settling into life in their new home of Montecito after moving to California in mid-March. They have been quietly focused behind the scenes on further developing their new foundation Archewell amid the rapidly changing times we all find ourselves in.
