Ava Phillippe is making rare splash to social media ft. her boyfriend, Owen Mahoney.
This past Monday, the 21-year-old daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe shared to Instagram a photo of her and her boyfriend.
The two were beaming in the selfie — which was captured at the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin, Texas — a place known for bats to fly by.
“The bats were feeling shy…so here’s a pic of us instead ????,” Ava wrote in her post’s caption.
Reese commented on the photo, writing, “???? These two.”
Ava has been dating fellow UC Berkeley Mahoney since at least 2019, when the two posted a pair of photos of the couple in a since-deleted Instagram post. A
Reese shares Ava and Deacon, 17, with Ryan, and Tennessee, 8½, with husband Jim Toth. Back in May, Ava — who looks scarily like her mother — posted a heartfelt Mother’s Day Tribute via Instagram.
“To my best friend, role model, cheerleader, confidante, and so much more: Happy Mother’s Day! ????????” she wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of Witherspoon that read “Best Mom.”
Last year, Witherspoon, posted a photo of her doppelganger-daughter to Instagram saying: “I know she’s my kid but I’m pretty much obsessed @avaphillippe ????” in the caption.

If you haven’t noticed already — Phillippe looks almost identical to her momma in the Instagram photo. Witherspoon’s friends, including Julianne Moore, Mindy Kaling and Kate Hudson, all complimented her teen in the comment section.
“Beautiful,” Moore wrote. “Me too,” Kaling added, while Hudson simply left a heart emoji. While Austin Channing Brown commented: “I sincerely thought this was you! ????”
Earlier in the year, Witherspoon revealed to Emmy Magazine about motherhood and how she closely related to the book Little Fires Everywhere is based on.
“It’s so difficult to articulate what motherhood means, and there are so many passages in the novel that did,” the actress said right before reciting a passage of the Celeste Ng book.
“[One passage was about] training yourself to live on the smell of an apple alone, when what you really wanted was to devour it, to sink your teeth into it and consume it, seeds, core, and all.”
“It’s such a vivid way to describe the loss of your children as they grow up,” she added. “My daughter was applying for college back then, so it hit me like an arrow in the heart.”
And while Witherspoon is close with her kids, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to embarrass them a bit.
“That’s basically my role. It’s our job, as parents, to really ramp up the embarrassment,” she joked in a virtual episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! lat year. “I just say if you’re not embarrassing your children, you’re not spending enough time with them.”
