When it comes to politics, Carrie Underwood has made comments about her active decision to “stay far out of politics.” However, her recent activity on Twitter has some of her fans scratching their heads.
The world continues to remain at war when comes to the precautionary measures set in place to protect individuals from contracting and spreading COVID-19. And it appears as though Underwood has just entered that public debate.

Six days ago, Underwood liked a video shared by conservative writer Matt Walsh. During his speech in front of the Nashville School Board, Walsh spoke out against the “cruel and indefensible mask mandate” that had been established for kids under the age of 11.
Currently, the COVID-19 vaccine is not approved for children under the age of 12. It would appear that Carrie Underwood agrees with Walsh’s statements as she has liked the video Walsh shared on Twitter.
Now, people are slamming the country music star for seemingly agreeing with and promoting misinformation and slander. “The Legendary Dolly Parton helped to fund Moderna’s vaccine, one Twitter user wrote, “Carrie Underwood liked a tweet by an anti-vaccine MAGA propagandist. Always be a Dolly.”
Other Twitter users admitted that they weren’t surprised by Underwood’s stance on masks. And Underwood is far from the first celebrity to speak out against Tennessee’s child mask mandate.
As At the Buzzer reported, former Bears quarterback and ex-husband to Kristin Cavallari, Jay Culter, also took issue with the mandate and also spoke out against it on Twitter. Cutler alleged that he lost his partnership with Uber Eats over his stance on masks.
“Lost a commercial with Uber eats partnering with the NFL,” Cutler wrote. “Was going to film in LA, ‘views aren’t aligned.’ Guess they don’t like future School board members. Frees up my weekend.” Since losing the partnership, Cutler has announced his plans to run for the position on the school board in 2024.
And now, Matt Walsh is speaking out over the backlash Carrie Underwood is experiencing.
“Like anyone else, I am upset and disturbed that Carrie Underwood liked one of my tweets. She should know better than to indirectly endorse the opinions of an extremist and scoundrel such as myself. Her lack of judgment is appalling. I demand that she renounce me and apologize,” Walsh sarcastically said in one tweet, before continuing, “Carrie Underwood liked my video and now the mob is coming for her. She should know better than to like something that they don’t like. This is an unforgivable sin.”
Underwood, herself, has not yet responded to those who are upset by her views. It’s unclear, given her past silence, if she ever will address the backlash.
