Haters Said Eric Stonestreet Looked ‘Too Old’ For His Fiancée, He Shuts Them Down In The Most Hilarious Way

Haters gonna hate, as T-swift says. Critics said Eric Stonestreet looked “too old” for his fiancée, so he clapped back in the most hilarious way.

On Sunday, Stonestreet revealed to his fans on Instagram how he and his longtime girlfriend, Lindsay Schweitzer, were getting married.

And while mostly, he received well wishes — others were not as kind. Many haters/trolls decided to comment how Lindsay looked WAY younger than Eric.

So Eric decided to clap back with his best superpower: comedy.

Stonestreet posted another photo of the happy couple but this time, a filter was on Lindsay’s face.

“Apparently a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49-year-old man, to be engaged to my almost 42-year-old fiancé,” he began.

“Look, she can’t help that she looks so great at 42 and I can’t help that I apparently look like her grandad so, I fixed it for everyone.”

“She said, ‘She’d have her people call my people,’” the Modern Family star, 49, captioned a series of photos boasting her ring after over five years of dating.

The two-time Emmy-winning actor began dating the pediatric nurse in 2017 after the two met at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City in 2016. And in a 2017 appearance on her talk show, Stonestreet praised his then-girlfriend Schweitzer to Ellen DeGeneres.

“Your girlfriend is lovely — I met her backstage,” said DeGeneres. “She’s a nurse. That’s a good thing for you, because you’re a hypochondriac.”

“I’m a big baby, too. She calms me — she calms my nerves. I’m a very high-strung person,” admitted Stonestreet.

“You can tell, right? What are you looking at, ma’am?!” he jokingly shouted at a woman in the audience before adding: “My nurse girlfriend will take care of you.”

“They are very happy to have met each other,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “They’re enjoying spending time together.”

Modern Family won a total of 22 Emmy awards for its first 10 seasons, from 75 nominations. It also won Outstanding Comedy Series five times, for its first five seasons. The series has also taken home Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series four times, twice each for Eric Stonestreet and Ty Burrell; Additionally, Julie Bowen has won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series twice.

Since the comedy was wrapped with an hour-long documentary retrospective, followed by their two-part finale episode on April 8, many fans and crew members were sad to see the season come to an end.
