In a statement given to E! News, Chapman said, “Francie and I are thrilled to be husband and wife. We appreciate all the prayers and well-wishes.”
However, it’s unclear how many of Duane Chapman’s family members were present for the special day. As his daughters, Cecily and Bonnie told TMZ that they weren’t invited to the wedding.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Bonnie then later explained on social media why she and her father were fighting. Bonnie accused her father of racism and homophobia, adding that the feud began when she participated in the Black Lives Matter protests.
“Bonnie’s allegations are false and a misguided attempt to derail our wedding,” Dog later said, “Despite the sadness, we feel at this rift in our family, Francie and I are looking forward to celebrating our wedding next week with the rest of our family and close friends.”
Chapman’s new wife, Francie also made a statement of her own to Entertainment Tonight. “As hard as it is and as heartbreaking as it is, we had to make a decision that was very difficult for us.”
She went on to say, “We’ve been through hell, him and I, in the past three years and I am not going to allow our day to be ruined by this nonsense.”
Chapman added in that same interview that he’s “never been a racist. I’m 33.5 percent Apache. But because of over 15 years ago, I have an Achilles’ heel because I used the wrong word.”
Chapman and Francie began dating in 2020. By May 2020, they were engaged. According to E! News, the couple bonded over grief as Francie has also lost a partner to cancer.
“With Francie, I’m allowed to speak about Beth, we speak about her husband. We cry. We hold each other,” Chapman once told TMZ. “…It’s just incredible that I’ve been able to meet someone like her.”
It’s unclear if Duane Chapman and his daughter will ever make amends.
