With October and Halloween just days and weeks away, spooky season is officially upon us. And with that comes scary movies, haunting decor, costumes, and haunted houses.

Sadly, as WJW reports, an Ohio boy was left injured and a haunted house employee was not charged following an incident that occurred on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. According to WJW, the event occurred just around 8 p.m. when local police reported to calls of an accident at a haunted house.

As the report reveals, after the 11-year-old boy and his group arrived at the haunted house they were met by an actor who was yielding a bowie knife in an attempt to scare them. As the group got closer the actor scraped the knife along the ground before stabbing at the ground.

However, the actor got too close to the boy’s feet and the knife plunged through the boy’s “Croc-style shoe and cut his toe.” Staff and first-responders treated the injury before the boy put his shoe back on and continued through the rest of the haunted event.

Police told the actor that using a real knife was “a bad idea” before confiscating it. The actor admitted he didn’t intentionally mean to hurt the boy or anyone else.

As a result, the boy’s mother asked that no criminal charges be issued. It’s unclear if the actor is still employed at the haunted house.

So as Halloween approaches and you choose to give yourself a fright be it through a scary movie or, if you’re brave enough, a haunted house, just remember to stay safe. You truly just never know the dangers that are lurking everywhere.
