In a sit-down interview with Candace Owens, former President Donald Trump was very clear about his thoughts about the vaccine. When it comes to the vaccine, Trump thinks you should get double vaccinated and boosted.
After all, he did. During his interview with The Daily Wire host, Owens questioned the former president about his vaccine rollout and how it is being handled under President Joe Biden.
Prior to talking with Owens, Donald Trump told Bill O’Reilly that he was not only double vaccinated but also received the vaccine booster shot. As Axios reported, this is significant news considering his supporters have a considerably lower vaccination rate compared to other communities.
While talking with Owens, Trump was very clear that he considered the vaccine, which was created under his administration, “one of the greatest achievements of mankind.” And it was evident that he hoped to be given credit for all three of the vaccines.
Donald Trump Makes His Stance on Vaccines Very Clear In New Interview: ‘One of the greatest achievements of mankind’
When asked where he stands on the vaccine mandates, Trump told Candace, “Well, I stand on, forget about the mandates. People have to have their freedom, but at the same time, the vaccine is one of the greatest achievements of mankind. We would have had a 1917, remember the Spanish Flu killed perhaps 100 million people. Actually, it ended the First World War because the soldiers, a lot of people don’t know this, the soldiers got so sick, it was a terrible thing.”
As Trump continued, he took credit for the vaccines that we are receiving today. “I came up with a vaccine, actually three vaccines, all are very very good. Came up with three of them, in less than 9 months. It was supposed to take 5 to 12 years.”
At that point in the interview, Owens interrupted Trump to say, “And yet more people have died under COVID this year, by the way, under Joe Biden than under you. And more people took the vaccine this year, so people are questioning how…”
And that’s when Trump took a firm stance on the vaccine’s efficacy. “Oh, no, the vaccine works,” Donald Trump continued. “But some people aren’t taking it. The ones that get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice, and if you take the vaccine, you’re protected. Look the results of the vaccine are very good, and if you do get it, it’s a very minor form. People aren’t dying when they take the vaccine.”
Candace then quickly changed the topic to children being “forced” to wear masks in school. On this topic, Candace and Trump saw more eye-to-eye with the host called the mandates “crazy” and Trump admitted that he doesn’t like seeing children with masks on.
“They’re sitting in school, they have a hard enough time sitting in school. I’m against it,” Trump said, as Candace applauded him for his stance while comparing the way it looks to schools in China. At the same time, Trump praised China’s educational system for being second or third in the world, compared to the United States which is 44th.
It’s also important to note that school mask mandates are more so set in place to control the spread of COVID-19 to family members, while also attempting to look out for the health of our children.
As the interview continued, Donald Trump reiterated that he believes people should have a right to choose whether or not they get the vaccine and that he does not support the mandate of the vaccine. However, he also refuses to discredit the vaccine.
“You have to understand, I’m a big fan of the vaccine. I’m not going to give that up. That’s a great achievement, millions and millions of lives I saved.”
