13-Year-Old Fatally Stabs Mom After Fight About Video Games

A 13-year-old boy stabbed his mother to death in a fight over video games, according to Tucson Police.

At about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Rita Ranch neighborhood, a woman ran up to her neighbor in what can only be described as something out of a horror scene.

The mother was bleeding from cuts to her throat. Mary Ainuu said her 13-year-old son Isiah had attacked her.

A sworn statement by Tucson Police details the harrowing incident.

The statement says officers found Isiah not far from his house. Police say he told them he’d argued with his mother about video games.

The 13-year-old then went to the kitchen, got a butcher knife and sharpened it.

He informed police he found his mother in the living room and hit her in the head with a five-pound exercise weight. He then stabbed her eight or nine times as she tried to escape.

Mary Ainuu was able to reach a neighbor, who called the police. But while a Tucson Fire Ambulance raced her to St. Joseph’s Hospital — she died about three and a half hours after the attack began

Laura Conover, a spokesperson for Pima County Attorney, says the case will be reviewed prior to making a decision on whether to charge Isiah Ainuu as an adult.

According to state law, in first-degree murder cases, minors aged 15 and older shall be charged as adults, and minors at least 14 years old may be charged as an adult.

Isiah Ainuu is just 13-years-old.
