Update: 11/14/2023: Five months after announcing they were expecting their first child together, Jana Kramer and Allan Russell have big news to share!
“Welcome to the world sweet Roman James Russell. Blessed beyond measure for this little miracle. 11.13.2023. 6lbs 1oz.”
Congratulations are in order for Jana Kramer and her fiancé, Allan Russell – who are expecting their first child together. It’ll be Kramer’s third child (she shares Jolie, 7, and Jace, 4, with ex-husband Mike Caussin) and Russell’s second child (he has a 15-year-old son, Troy, from a previous relationship).
Kramer confirmed her pregnancy in an Instagram post on June 8, where she shared photos of herself, her family, her positive pregnancy test, and her baby bump. “We’ve been keeping another secret from you guys (I promise this is the last Announcement…at least for a little while ) but I’m pregnant,” she wrote.
She even took some time to plug Clearblue, the pregnancy test brand she used. “Beyond blessed and grateful for this baby to be a part of our story. I never thought I would see the word pregnant again on a test, but thankful for @clearblue for making it as clear as ever,” she concluded in her Instagram caption.

In addition to her Instagram announcement, Jana Kramer did an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, where she talked about the pregnancy and how it compares (and differs) from her previous ones. “I didn’t think it would ever happen again, if I’m being honest,” she told the outlet – describing it as a ‘beautiful thing.’
While she’s still ‘letting it all sink in,’ she says the pregnancy is ‘everything I’ve wanted and more.’ She praised her fiancé for being ‘so sweet’ and recalled a time when he left her a beautiful note on a small sticky note – “You deserve the happy ending,” the note read – giving fans a glimpse into her happy life.
“I’ve had miscarriages, so I didn’t even know if it was possible. I’m like, yes, it’d be beautiful for us to create something because I love this man. It would be the silver lining with everything that happened, but I’d always get kind of down about it because I didn’t know if I was capable of carrying,” she continued.
She was – and she is. She couldn’t help but marvel at the timing, considering she’s going to be 40 in December. Knowing they only had one more month to try for a baby, Kramer was delighted when she started getting a metallic taste in her mouth – the same taste she had with her other two pregnancies.
Jana Kramer Explains Why This Pregnancy is Different
During her interview with PEOPLE, Jana Kramer described some of the differences between this pregnancy and her previous two. For example, she recalled being sick with her daughter and having hyperemesis gravidarum with her son. While she has been sick with this pregnancy, it’s not nearly as bad.
“In the beginning of this pregnancy, I was bleeding a lot. It was scary, and I went to the doctor like, ‘I’ve miscarried.’ I actually had a large hemorrhage, so they’d have to monitor me, which has been kind of great because I’ve gotten to see the baby so much. Everything’s good now, thank goodness,” she said.
She also talked about the logistics of having a new baby, considering her fiancé spends some of his time in England with his 15-year-old son. “We make it work,” she says, noting how incredible of a father he is – not just to his own child, but to his soon-to-be stepchildren. It appears to be quite the happy household!
