Nanny Faye, the mother of reality TV star Todd Chrisley, has always been a fan-favorite among those that tune into Chrisley Knows Best. Using her wit and charm to win fans over, Faye Chrisley (best known as Nanny Faye) always seems to find a way to steal the spotlight from her son and her grandchildren.
On Wednesday (June 28), Faye joined one of her grandchildren, Lindsie Chrisley, on her The Southern Tea podcast and opened up about her son’s 12-year prison sentence and how it has affected her mindset. And while she’s trying to stay positive and knows the family will bounce back, she admits to struggling.
“Am I in a dark place? I am in a real dark place. But I know that there [is] going to be light at the end of the tunnel,” she said. “I am the queen, and the Sergeant is still barking orders. I have to be the backbone. I have been and I will be. I check on each and everyone to make sure they’re doing what they need to be.”

Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were convicted of five counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and one count of tax fraud – Julie was also charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of obstruction of justice.
In November 2022, the couple were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison for their financial crimes – with Todd receiving a 12-year sentence and Julie receiving a 7-year sentence. Two months later (on January 17), they reported to prison – Todd at FPC Pensacola in Florida, Julie at FMC Lexington, KY.
Despite the recent setback in the Chrisley household, Nanny Faye is maintaining her faith and staying positive. “We’re going to come out bigger and better because what they were accused of is wrong,” she said during the podcast appearance with her granddaughter, Lindsie. “And I believe it within my heart.”
She went on to quote the bible – more specifically the story of Daniel in the lion’s den. She acknowledged how Daniel never worried about the lions while in the lion den – instead, he maintained focus on what’s important. She likens that story to the one her family is going through right now – they’re focused.
Nanny Faye Shared Similar Sentiments in April
This isn’t the first time Nanny Faye has spoken about her son’s prison sentence on The Southern Tea podcast. She joined her granddaughter on an episode in April and discussed how heartbroken she was after learning of her son’s prison sentence – adding it’s unlike any heartbreak she has ever experienced.
“My heart is broke. I don’t know that I have been this broken in many days, but I have to ask God to give me strength and courage to get through it because not everybody is treated [with] justice, not everything is fair,” she said in April before urging the rest of her family to get up, keep moving, and do the right thing.
She likened her family’s new mindset to that of a tree planted by the water – they can’t and won’t be moved. She wants the rest of the world to see that her family is actually who they say they are – and not what the media portrays them as. Get up, do the right thing. Be kind and let God take over,” she said.

At the time, Nanny Faye admitted that she is hurting deep in her heart, but she has to stay strong and can’t let anyone see how much she’s hurting and broken. She acknowledges that she’s still the mother/grandmother in the family and needs to ‘let people see what God has done’ for her.
