A mother went to pick up her daughter from kindergarten but was shocked to discover a bruise on her 5-year-old’s face.
The concerned mom of Hailey Turner knew there had to be more to the story so she asked her daughter what happened to her at school.

The little girl told her family that a teacher at Cummings Elementary hit her in the face, reports WHBQ.
Hailey’s mother, Ciara Morgan, said:
“I actually cried because she had a big bruise around her eye.”
The kindergartener claimed that her teacher hurt her, and said one of her classmates wasn’t following instructions and she told on the student. Hailey said:
“The teacher reached into her desk, pulled out a ruler, walked over to her and told her ‘no tattle tailing’ and popped her.”
The 5-year-old also recounted the incident to her aunt, Latasia Turner. She said:
“Ms. Lewis hit me in the eye with a ruler and told me not to tell anybody.”
The family went to the Memphis, Tennessee school to report the incident to the Shelby County School District administrators. The station has confirmed that disciplinary action was taken against her teacher. In a statement the district said:
“We can confirm this employee was removed from the school and received disciplinary consequences in accordance with board policy.”
But two weeks later, the educator returned to her classroom. Latasia said:
“Hailey said Ms. Lewis is back in school and they removed me from my class.”
However, the family claims that they were not told that Ms. Lewis was still instructing her kindergarten class. The school said only the Department of Education (DOE) has the power to revoke a teacher’s license.
But the family found that the DOE has not yet reviewed the assault case filed by the school district.
In the meantime, Hailey has recovered from her bruises. Her mom said she wasn’t seriously injured when she got smacked in the face.
