Madonna is praising her friends and family for their love and support as she continues to recover from her recent health scare – a bacterial infection that landed her in the hospital on June 24. Now more than one month later, the 64-year-old icon is taking to her Instagram to show her appreciation and gratitude.
“Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect,” she began her heartfelt message in the caption. She shared three photos of herself – one of which featured her 17-year-old son, David Blanda, and another one featured her 26-year-old daughter, Lourdes Leon.
In the caption, Madonna praised her children for stepping up and being by her side when she needed them most – noting that it made ‘all the difference’ seeing a side to them she had never seen before. They cared for her in the same way she cared for them growing up – an ode to the circle of life we all live in.

“As a Mother you can really get caught up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving,” Madonna explained in her heartfelt caption on Instagram. “But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.”
She also gave a shoutout to her friends who have shown their love and support over the past month – including her longtime manager, Guy Oseary. They officially joined forces in 2005 after he spent several years as her business partner. She gave him a special shoutout for a gift he gave her during her recovery.
You can see that gift in the second reel of her Instagram post – she’s holding what she describes as ‘a polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it.’ She described it as a ‘perfect triangle of Brilliance’ and marveled at the fact that she knew all of them.
“I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone,” she wrote. “Thank you @guyoseary for this gift! And Thank you to all my angels who protected me and let me Stay to finish doing my work!”
Madonna Shares Backstage Photo With Beyonce and Rumi
On August 1 (a few days after she shared her heartfelt update), Madonna took to her Instagram Story to share photos of her taking in the sights and sounds of Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. And since she’s Madonna, she took some photos with the Queen backstage.
One of those photos featured Madonna and Beyonce with some of their daughters. Madonna was with three of her daughters – 17-year-old daughter, Mercy, and 10-year-old twins, Stella and Estere. On the other hand, Beyonce was with her 6-year-old daughter, Rumi. Talk about a legendary and iconic photo!
Madonna has made a number of headlines since returning to Instagram following her hospitalization in late-June. On July 27, she posted a video of herself dancing in what appears to be a bathroom – she was grateful for being able to move around and wanted to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her first album.
