Hearts are breaking for Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson as she is the third member of the Royal Family to share distressing news about her health.
In a statement shared with People, a spokesperson for Duchess Fergie revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer again. This second cancer diagnosis comes after Ferguson was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer back in summer 2023.
“Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” the statement read. The spokesperson continued, revealing that Fergie was diagnosed with melanoma while she was undergoing reconstruction surgery while battling breast cancer.
Fergie had several moles removed with at least one of them testing as cancerous. “The Duchess wants to thank the entire medical team which has supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was,” the statement continued.

Now, Fergie hopes her story, like her brother-in-law’s story will encourage more people to undergo regular skin checks. “She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma,” the statement continued.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Fergie’s health announcement comes just days after Princess Catherine was revealed to have undergone abdominal surgery and King Charles is preparing to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate.
Although King Charles is reportedly fine, and the procedure is simply preventative, he too revealed that he shared his recent health journey in order to encourage more men to get regular prostate exams done to prevent the disease from going undetected.
People continued to report that Duchess Fergie is currently undergoing treatment for melanoma in London. “She is undergoing further investigations to ensure that this has been caught in the early stages,” her spokesperson added.
“Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing, but the Duchess remains in good spirits.”
We wish Fergie the best as she continues to fight.
