Shortly after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan aired, Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, filed a defamation lawsuit against the Duchess of Sussex.

In the lawsuit, Samantha claimed that Meghan and Harry spread “malicious, hurtful, and damaging lies” in their documentary and in their interview with Oprah Winfrey. However, Samantha reportedly failed to provide the court with any evidence, The Mirror reported.
On Tuesday, March 12, US District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell threw the lawsuit out, ordering that it “never be brought back to court.” In her decision, Judge Honeywell wrote that Samantha “failed to identify any statements that could support a claim for defamation or defamation-by-implication.”
According to The Mirror, Judge Honeywell further revealed that this isn’t the first, but the third time, Samantha attempted to accuse her sister of defamation, each time reportedly seeking $75,000 in damages.
The decision leaves Meghan Markle and subsequently Prince Harry victorious.

Meghan and Samantha share a father, Thomas Markle, who Meghan always said she was close with up until just before she and Harry got married. Thomas found himself in several different controversies in the months and weeks leading up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
As a result, Thomas never made it to his daughter’s wedding, resulting in King Charles walking Meghan down the aisle. Thomas has not been in the public eye for quite some time.
Neither Meghan nor Samantha have personally commented on the court’s decision to throw out this defamation case.
