Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are currently starring in a new action-packed movie called Fall Guy.
According to The New York Times movie reviewer Manohla Dargis, Fall Guy is “divertingly slick, playful nonsense” about a stuntman named Cole “who lives to get brutalized again and again.” And as others have called it, a “love letter to the stunt industry.”
As Gosling told Capital FM, while playing the stuntman Cole, he did do at least one of his own stunts during the movie. He was dropped off the top of a 12-story building at one point during filming.
And while Gosling was onboard with doing some of his own stunts throughout the movie, the actor admitted his kids did draw a line in the sand before he started filming.
According to People, Gosling’s kids, whom he shares with actress Eva Mendes, “didn’t want him to be set on fire.” As Gosling told the publication, “they asked specifically if I was going play…even though I said, ‘Well, it’s actually technically the safer thing to do because there’s a lot of protective stuff involved.’ They were like, ‘No. No fire.'”
And so Gosling respected his kids wishes and opted out of fire involved stunts. “So I didn’t do it.”
His co-star Emily Blunt added that her kids didn’t really have any demands for her before they started filming but revealed that her kids, whom she shared with actor John Krawsinski, aren’t total fans of seeing their mom on screen. And that’s not because they think their mom isn’t talent.
“There was this scene in Jungle Cruise, and they’ve only seen Jungle Cruise once because they don’t love watching me on screen, which I understand because I’m their mommy and it’s very strange to see me play someone else,” Blunt explained.
“They didn’t like the underwater stuff,” Blunt continued, “where I’m trapped and I’m in peril. They started crying. They left the room. They didn’t like it.”
Gosling admitted he was on the side of Blunt’s kids, adding that he didn’t like watching her in peril either.
