When it comes to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the Royal Family, the rumor mill works hard. Between rumored feuds and their recent decision to step back as senior members of the Royal Family, Meghan and Harry are often in the headlines.
Most recently, while enjoying her new life in Canada, paparazzi snagged photos of Meghan while she was on a walk with their two dogs and their 8-month-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Once the photographs were seen by the public, thousands of people began mom-shaming Meghan for the way Archie was being carried in the BabyBjörn she was using on their walk. One of the negative comments read, “Meghan Markle was so busy posing for the paps’ camera that she didn’t mind sacrificing the welfare and safety of her son Archie.”

And another wrote, “Archie looks uncomfortable- maybe one of Meghan’s armed guards could give her a hand with the pups… just saying.” Now, Today Show host Jenna Bush Hager is slamming those who are shamming the new mom.
“The one thing that I noticed that irritated me was that there was a lot of mom-shamming around it. It just brought up things in me,” Hager, who was recently mom-shamed herself for traveling to Vietnam, sans her three kids, for a story, said of the negative comments. She continued:
“I got people writing things on my social media. And I was going to respond, but I was too tired. But here’s the thing, as mothers, we’re constantly questioning ourselves. Right? Every day you and I say to each other, ‘I failed again!’ And leaving my little people broke my heart, so let’s lift each other up!”
Hager’s co-host, Hoda Kotb, also opened up about being mom-shamed on social media for leaving her children at home to watch the Rose Bowl with her fiancé Joel.
Kotb said, “I remember I went with Joel to do the Rose Bowl. And we were with the Rokers, and it was one comment. But I remember I read it, and it struck me. It’s like, ‘Oh, great. Another day away from your kids. You must be loving it.’ And I was like, ‘Actually, I don’t love it.’ … Give everybody a little bit of a break.”
And that’s when Hager pointed out that it’s not often that you see Joel or her husband, Henry, being dad-shamed. “Here’s the thing, Joel and Henry aren’t sitting around being shamed about their dadding. They’re just dads, and they’re free.”
Hager then encouraged women to lift each other up rather than tear each other down. “Our generation has to stop this so my girls aren’t worried about it.”
According to Yahoo!, the carrier Meghan is using in the photos is known as the Ergobaby Omni 360 All Positions. And as the video demonstrating how to use the carrier reveals, the position in which Meghan is carrying Archie has a name.
It’s called the “Carry On The Hip” position which is for infants six months or older, like Archie. As Yahoo! reports, “if you’re going to look at these photos with a fine-toothed comb, you can see that one of the buttons behind Archie is unlatched. This suggests — quite strongly — that he was forward-facing initially. She likely unlatched him quickly and turned him around to face her once the photographers were spotted.”
Harry and Meghan have since threatened to sue the photographers responsible for the sneaky photos and videos.
