Things are not pretty in Gosselin-world right now. Collin Gosselin, 16, recently accused his father, Jon Gosselin of physically abusing him. The report was closed within 24 hours after authorities concluded Collin fabricated the story. What followed was a familiar song and dance from Jon and his ex-wife, Kate.
Kate released a lengthy statement that asserted that some pretty nasty things about her ex-husband. Jon did not take it in stride, however, and the two have been embroiled in a bitter, public back and forth ever since. It’s sort of a mess.
Last week, Berks County Children & Youth Services in Pennsylvania opened an investigation about an alleged incident that involved a physical attack on Collin.
People first reported that a special investigation had been opened by Berks County Children & Youth Services in Pennsylvania. According to the report, the accusations involved “causing bodily injury to a child through recent act/failure to act: hitting/punching.”
In an Instagram post, that’s now been deleted, Collin accused his dad of abuse weeks before the report became public. Collin wrote in the post, “My dad is a liar. Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor. He is a liar.”
For anyone who follows the goings-on of the Gosselins, it will come as no surprise that Kate quickly had something public to say about that.
The Kate Plus Date star told People, “You do not punch and kick your children. You do not kick a child. I don’t want to hear any excuses from anyone, not from his father, not from local law enforcement, not from court personnel whose job is supposedly to ensure the best interests of my children.”
“There is a child abuse law, PA 23, section 8i states that doing any of the following, regardless of whether it causes injury, is child abuse, and first on that list is kicking,” she added. “Period. I don’t want my children around [Jon]. Enough is enough.”

If you know anything about Jon, you know he never misses an opportunity to criticize his ex.
“She hasn’t seen Collin in five years and now she’s going to try to come out as the caring mother when in fact the reason Collin is struggling with mental illness is because she abused him,” he explained to the Daily Mail. “He has PTSD because of her. So I’m not going to sit back and not defend myself or my family.”
“Dealing with a child with mental health issues is taxing, I’m taxed,” Jon admitted. “But I love my son. I will not give up. I go to therapy, we all go to family therapy, to deal with having a son that has been traumatized and abused by his mother.”
Kate was up, and she hit back.
Kate spoke with People again following the accusations from her ex, “I am done hiding and will say this unequivocally: Jon is a violent and abusive person.”
Needless to say, this situation is not ideal. Collin is clearly crying out for help and it’s hard to know which parent has his best interest at heart. We certainly don’t think that these two should be hashing it out via the press. Some sort of therapy? Counseling? We hope someone gets to a professional and gets some constructive help because what we’re seeing is not helping anything.
