Lori Loughlin Is ‘Living A Real-Life Nightmare’ In Prison

Lori Loughlin is 12 days into a two-month sentence for her crime in the college admissions scandal and life behind bars is proving to be a struggle for her.

A source who is close to the actress told In Touch that “every second feels like a lifetime” in prison. In addition, she is having trouble adjusting to her new life away from her family.

The source also revealed to In Touch how Lori is attempting to “keep her head low and just get through her ordeal.” And while she “misses her family and her comfortable life,” she has been allowed to keep in touch with her loved ones through phone calls and emails while being monitored by prison staff. That being said, the source further revealed how Lori is “hating life inside prison,” and has found her first days “dreadful.”

Another source revealed to the magazine how reality hit Laurie during her drive to the prison. As she left the “safety of her Hidden Hills home, (she) reminisced of past family holidays and neighborhood get-togethers, but it only made it worse for her,” the insider said. “Lori is living a real-life nightmare.”

Due to the coronavirus crisis, Lori began her prison sentence in a 14-day quarantine away from the general prison population and is unable to leave her cell.

“[Being in quarantine] is not pleasant,” Holli Coulman, a consultant for Wall Street Prison Consultants, revealed to the Mercury News. “There is nothing for her to do. I believe they have reading material but other than that, it’s a really long day and night for her.”

After initially claiming she did not feel she deserved to be punished for her crime, both she and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, illegally paid half a million dollars in bribes to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California as rowing team recruits. It was on her sentencing on August 21 when Lori finally showed her cards.

“I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass,” she told the court.

“I thought I was acting out of love for my children, but in reality, it only underlined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments. More broadly and more importantly, I now understand that my decision helped exacerbate existing inequalities in society generally and the higher education system more specifically.”

For daughters Bella, 22, and Olivia Jade, 21, it has not been easy to say goodbye to their mother.

“Although the girls knew it was coming and have had time to prepare, it’s still devastating to see their mom go,” a source revealed to E! News. “Both Olivia and Bella are very distraught over it. They are grateful it is for only two months but are anxious knowing they will have a very different and hard holiday season this year.”
