Aaron Carter’s Death Certificate Has Been Released — Here’s What We Know

It has been 12 days since beloved pop star Aaron Carter, who had recently begun his career as a rapper, died tragically on November 5. And while there are still many questions surrounding his unexpected passing, more information is coming to light.

According to Carter’s death certificate which has been obtained by TMZ, it was revealed that the 34-year-old was cremated. It was further learned that it was a decision made by his family and that his twin sister, Angel, will be the keeper of Carter’s ashes.

It remains unclear how Aaron’s family will choose to honor his life. Some of the information on the death certificate was blacked out for privacy purposes. Carter’s official cause of death remains unclear, but as Mamas Uncut previously reported he was discovered in his bathtub by his housekeeper. Currently, his cause of death is labeled as “deferred” on the certificate.

Nick and Angel Carter have since launched a donation fund for youth mental health through On Our Sleeves, a children’s mental health organization helping families across America, in honor of Aaron.

Update: On November 13, it was reported by TMZ that despite his lawyer advising him to create a will after his son Prince was born in November 2021, Aaron Carter died without a proper will in place. As a result, TMZ reports that the “State of California will decide who inherits his estate.”

According to TMZ, just a month and a half before Aaron tragically died, child services removed Prince from Aaron and Melanie’s custody. Prince has been living with his maternal grandmother. Nonetheless, it is often the child of the parent left behind who inherits their parent’s estate even if a will isn’t in place. Melanie and Aaron were not legally married before his passing.

Investigation Into Aaron Carter’s Death Reveals What Was Found in His Bathroom

Carter was found unresponsive in his bathtub by his housekeeper. Preliminary reports suggest Carter drowned in the tub.

However, the reports that air considers and other medication were found nearby in his home are leaving many with more questions. Aaron has, for the most part, been quite open about his battle with addiction to substances and huffing.

Further reports suggest that Aaron’s body was in the water in his bathtub “for some time.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While talking with Entertainment Tonight, Aaron’s friend, Gary Madatyan, revealed he was allowed to enter Aaron’s home following the discovery along with Carter’s ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin. Melanie and Aaron also share a one-year-old son together.

While talking with ET, Madatyan claimed he suspected Carter was huffing again. Reports made in October claimed that Carter had returned to rehab, although it’s unclear why exactly.

“After they removed the body from the house, they allowed just a few people to get into the house. We just wanted to go in there and see if any blood or any alcohol or anything was in the house,” Madatyan revealed.

“I went to his bedroom, the bedroom was normal. I went to the bathroom where the bathtub was full of water, like, yellowish color.”

Madatyan concerns that Carter had relapsed had begun to grow after Carter held an Instagram Live session back in September. “As soon as I saw [the Live], me and Melanie, we got in on a text message saying, ‘This is bad. This is not good.’ We were very worried about him.”

Madatyan continued to say, “He looked terrible. He lost so much weight. He was not acting normal. His mind was not there. … I heard he’s taking a lot of medication, not specifically illegal drugs, but he was on a lot of medication.”

TMZ has also since reported that Aaron was scheduled for a rehab therapy appointment on Friday night, just hours before he was found dead. Aaron reportedly missed that appointment.

Aaron had dealt with traumatic deaths in the past with the tragic passing of his sister, Leslie, in 2012. And again with the unexpected passing of his father in 2017.

Carter was also known to have a rocky relationship with his mom and older brother Nick Carter. However, despite their past, Nick was visibly heartbroken over Aaron’s passing.

He also wrote a statement on Instagram following the news of Aaron’s death.

“My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded,” Nick wrote on Instagram alongside photos of him and Aaron as children.

“I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you, Chizz. Now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth….God, Please take care of my baby brother.”

And Aaron’s twin sister, Angel, also issued a statement as well.

She wrote, “To my twin… I loved you beyond measure. You will be missed dearly. My funny, sweet Aaron,I have so many memories of you and I, and I promise to cherish them. I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.”

Additionally, just a few days ago, reports suggested Carter was pulled over by police while driving an RV. Authorities had a suspicion he was operating the vehicle under the influence.

Mamas Uncut will continue to update this report as new information becomes available during this ongoing investigation.
