Aaron Hernandez’s ex fiancée is speaking out after the late disgraced former football player became the butt of several jokes during the live roast of Tom Brady on Netflix.
During the three-hour long event, Hernandez was brought up several times, as was his murder conviction. There were even multiple jokes made in reference to the way the former football player passed away while serving life in prison for his crimes.
Hernandez was a go-to target for Tom Brady during his three years as a tight end for the New England Patriots. He was then arrested in 2013 and charged with the murder of Oldin Lloyd, who was dating his fiancée’s sister at the time of his death.
In 2017, while appealing the murder conviction, Hernandez died in prison. His death was ruled a suicide.
Hernandez was diagnosed with CTE, or chronic traumatic enecephalopathy, following his death. A diagnosis that led to many discussions about how CTE may have affected his behavior while he was alive.
At the time of his murder conviction and death, Hernandez and Jenkins were parents to their now 11-year-old daughter.
Now, Hernandez’s fiancée Shayanna Jenkins is speaking out following the roast and sharing her disgust.
In a brief statement shared with TMZ, Shayanna shared she was disappointment by the jokes. “It’s sad that I’m trying to raise my children in such a cruel world,” she added.
Shayanna continued, saying that given her daughter is of the age where she can access the internet, she worries about their daughter seeing what was said about her father during the roast.
Shayanna thought Hernandez “should have been off limits.”
Interestingly, while a guest on The Howard Stern Show, one of the comedians involved in the event, Nikki Glazer, revealed that it was collectively agreed upon that they would leave Brady’s three children out of the mix when coming up with material for the joke.
It was the only thing off the table for the comedians.
The reason why is because Brady’s kids “didn’t ask for this,” Glazer said. And because they are all still in school, the aftermath of the toast could have been “brutal” for them.
