Acid reflux and pregnancy.

Has anyone here experienced horrible, make you want to give up acid reflux while pregnant!?! I’ll be 34 weeks tomorrow. I’ve had a semi-hard pregnancy.. just one thing after another! Nothing wrong with the baby, just my body. From day one, I’ve had horrible morning sickness! Puking every day, all day until 25-28wks. They put me on all kinds of nausea meds, was in and out of the ER for fluids and lived on ice and chicken broth. It finally just stopped! Well, it’s turned it to such bad acid reflux, that I’m back to no eating, puking at night. I can’t sleep, I can’t lay down, and now it’s so bad that even sitting up, it’s all coming up in my chest. It hurts!!! I’m not a crier, and it’s brought me to tears. I always feel like there’s something in my chest and that my throat is sore. My head and back hurt from getting sick so much, and every time I’ve mentioned it at appointments, I’m told to take tums. Well, the tums aren’t doing it anymore!! And the bottle says no more than 5 in a 24hr period. Has anyone been through this? What did your doc do for you? Or is there something natural I can try!? Please help!!!! I’m dying

  1. put a 1/4 tsp of baking in water and drink it. I have chronic GERD that was sooooo bad during my last pregnancy to the point where I’d throw up undigested food hours later….in the middle of the night. ugh terrible.

  2. Zantac and drinking milk and laying on your left side seemed to help me more. It’s definitely horrible and super uncomfortable! Hope you feel better soon!!! I also found avoiding things with Red Dye in it like teas, pizzas, spaghetti, etc.

  3. Yep. It was awful for me. From about week 20 until after I gave birth. I was on a GERD diet and Prevacid and Tums but they only helped take the edge off. I was still throwing up stomach bile the night before I went into labor. It sucks so bad and I’m so so sorry you have to deal with it. Just know it doesn’t last forever. I told my husband the night we had our baby that I could lay down and not have stomach bile come up my throat.

  4. You’re not alone I’m going through it too. I take tums a lot too but I’ve notice icecream helps a lot too. I’m not talking sebert, I’m talking plain chocolate or vanilla icecream. Anything dairy really seems to help me also i try not to eat anything at least 2hrs before i lay down in bed…sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn’t. Best of luck momma!

  5. I had the same problem, my son is now 2 months old. I took carafate, they can give you a prescription for it. Also taking nexium and zantac helped me tremendously. You can buy both at wal mart or any pharmacy. Good luck, I know your pain all too well!

  6. I am going to have to try this as well. I am 19 weeks and I haven’t been able to sleep at night because it’s so bad. If I lay on my right side it’s worse, but if I lay on my left side I get horrible pains from indigestion.

  7. I lived off of rolaids and crackers through both of my pregnancies… nothing helped my nausea I even was sick several months after birth… the only relief that worked for me was rolaids I had a bottle in every room and my car… probably went through 20 large bottles a month…

  8. Ive had that when i was pregnant, horrible heartburn which i thought it was. Turned out to be my gall bladder, had to get it removed when my baby was a few months old.

    1. Caitlin Kemp oh i can imagine ! I think its crazy though bc the whole time i was thinking i had heartburn but little did i know.. lol & i wasn’t pregnant w the same pain! Damn Gallbladder ????
