Alexa and Carlos PenaVega have had a harrowing experience with the birth of their youngest daughter. The Spy Kids alum and Big Time Rush actor announced that their daughter, who they named Rio, was born an entire month early.
The couple made the announcement on Monday by sharing a black-and-white image of both parents holding their little one’s hand.

“SO.. we’ve been MIA these last few days,” Alexa PenaVega wrote on Instagram. “Let’s just say we learned once again that God is always in control. You may have a PLAN for your life, but all that really matters is HIS plan.”
“Little Rio could not wait to come out and play with her brothers!” the announcement continues. “Momma is feeling good and baby girl is kicking some serious booty in the NICU. Praying we can all be home together very soon! What a wave of emotions.”
“Much love and thanks to all the Nurses, Doctors from Maui to Oahu – who brought little Rio safely into this world,” their message concludes.
In his own Instagram post sharing the news, Carlos PenaVega had even more to share. “Can’t wait to share the story with you all! I lift up my wifey @vegaalexa on this Mother’s Day,” he declared.
“YOU ARE A CHAMP! I could never do what you do. The best momma to our 2 boys and now little girl. Thank you for being a solid rock for this family,” his message concludes.
With her two happy little boys, we would have to agree with Carlos here. Alexa is a “CHAMP.”
Rio will hopefully join her brothers: Ocean King, 4, and Kingston James, 1, very soon!
Alexa revealed in an Instagram photo shared on April 27 that her daughter would be due in June. “See you in 7 weeks baby girl!” the actor wrote at the time.

The couple announced they were expecting a third child in December. In a Christmas music video put together by Carlos and the rest of his Big Time Rush bandmates, the couple revealed the happy news to their fans.
