Alexa PenaVega and her family are moving forward after a “traumatic” accident.
This past Tuesday the Spy Kids alum revealed her 2-year-old son Kingston is recovering after his fingers were severed.

“Friday night was rough,” the mom of three began on her Instagram Story.
“While getting the kids ready for bed I shut Kington’s fingers in the hinge of the bathroom door. His first finger is bruised and a little bloody…but his middle finger took the brunt of it and was severed from the first knuckle near the tip,” Alexa continued.
Now, the actress is counting her blessings after overcoming the trauma, mom guilt and shame of the accident. “Thank God for prayers and for the sweet little bruiser Kingston is,” she wrote. She also credited her husband, Carlos PenaVega, with swooping “in like Superman to take care of our family.”
“It took a minute for all of us to process what happened,” Alexa continued. “If anything it made us all love each other even more and humbled us completely. Thankfully, Kingston is already doing flips like nothing happened. Gosh I love my babies!”

Alexa, who’s also mom to 4-year-old son Ocean and 5-month-old daughter Rio, thanked family and friends for their prayers and gave an update on Kingston.
“They were not able to reattach the piece of his finger. Poor baby,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “But the other 9 are so cute! He’ll be more than fine.”
Carlos also addressed the accident on his own Instagram Story, posted a video with Kingston after his injury. “He had a little boo boo, but he’s gonne be ok, right?” he asked his son. “You’re a tough boy, right?”
To which he dryly replied: “No.”
Alexa later posted a video update expressing her pain as a mother and the feelings of guilt that surfaced along with the nasty comments from a few followers. But many users were quick to support the actress.
“Things happen momma!! The important thing is taking care of your babies after whatever happens!!!! So glad he is okay! What a trooper,” one user commented.
“Glad he’s ok, don’t let the mom guilt weigh you down. Accidents happen,” another said. While another shared their personal experience:
“I completely understand this trauma. My 5yr old slammed the bedroom door on my 2 yr olds finger. The finger tip was amputated in the door. I picked up the finger piece and grabbed my boy and drove to the hospital. They were able to reattach it and the digit survived. This traumatic accident caused me so much PTSD that I needed therapy. Every time I hear a blood curdling scream, I disintegrate. The good Lord Jesus healed him and will heal all of you. Kingston first.”
