Angelina Jolie On Why She Decided To Stop Directing Movies Amid Divorce From Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie believes it’s time to step away from the director’s chair and star in the upcoming movie, Those Who Wish Me Dead.

Over the past few years, Angelina has directed such films as Unbroken in 2014, and 2017’s First They Killed My Father.

But according to a recent interview, Angelina appeared to reference her divorce from Brad Pitt caused a deviation from directing at this moment in time.

“I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that’s not made it possible for me to direct for a few years,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That’s really the truth of it.”

And while she did not mention Brad’s name — it was apparent that Angelina was speaking of the divorce.

But that doesn’t mean Angelina has stopped her life! She has starred in multiple movies since the couple broke things off, like starring in Kung-Fu Panda 3 and the Maleficent sequel, Mistress of Evil. This year, her next project will be starring in Marvel’s upcoming movie, Eternals.

And while their separation was a bit messy at first, both Angelina and Brad are now amicable — so much so that Angelina even decided to purchase a California home as it was five minutes away from her ex.

When asked about moving into the property, formerly owned by Cecil B. DeMille, she informed British Vogue: “I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away.”

Angelina went on to admit she is in a better place compared to moments past: “The past few years have been pretty hard. I’ve been focusing on healing our family,” she said.

“It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”
