Burn from an ultrasound?!

Has anyone ever suffered a burn from an ultrasound? I had an ultrasound today and at first I thought the wand was twisting my skin. But after the appointment I had my husband look and it actually looks like a burn and is leaving fluid on my pants like a burn blister does when it pops. It hurts pretty bad. Never had anything like this happen with my first pregnancy, this of course is a different doctor too.

I have read that it can happen if the ultrasound isn’t done correctly.

Im a registered sonographer and the only way a diagnostic ultrasound would leave a burn is if it was done for over 100 hours which I’m sure it was not. I’m assuming it was an allergic reaction to the ultrasound gel, if anything.

I’m a registered ultrasound tech and this wouldn’t happen from a quick ultrasound. The probe would have to be sitting in one spot for a VERY long time in order to get that hot. Possible and allergic reaction? Or the probe was not in proper working condition?

It’s def the gel. But an internal one the use latex ,you could be allergic. I kinda found out in my 30s that it developed. The machine itself won’t hurt

Thank you for sharing that. I couldn’t find anything to prove that statement about an ultrasound causing a burn. What you say sounds very likely to be what happened.
