Chemical pregnancy basically means that while your body had HCG detection (chemical) you were to early to detect via an ultrasound.
Chemical pregnancy generally ends right about the time, with in a few days, of when your first missed period would have been. (Just went thru my 2nd one this past week :disappointed_relieved:)
Prayers to you or your loved one because its still as devestating as other miscarriages.

I had one and I was like 4 weeks, like got a positive and then started bleeding next day. Most don’t even know because it’s usually right around when you start your period.

Why did someone laugh at this question? Rude. I’ve had one. Took two pregnancy tests before my missed period because I could tell something was up. Both positive. Day I was supposed to start my period, I started. Totally crushed and confused. Doctor said it was an egg that was fertilized, but didn’t implant. Body produced enough hormones though that it shows up positive, but that is the only evidence of it, chemical evidence. Thus the name.

Its a pregnancy that results is miscarriage before the 5th week. Embryo implants but never takes hold.

When your body creates pregnancy hormones but you aren’t really pregnant because the embryo didn’t implant.

I’ve had 2… it’s a positive fertilization that fails to implant. When the fertilization takes place, the hcg starts rising making it sometimes detectable on a urine test. However, when it fails to implant, you’re period will usually start again and hcg will go back down.

I had one about 17 yrs ago…It’s a very early pregnancy only a few weeks that ends up in a miscarriage but, most women don’t realize it unless you did a pg test at only a few weeks pg to realize you even had a miscarriage

The majority of the responses are correct…
BUT… only in part.
The majority of the pregnancy tests are made with an extremely sensitive chemical that reacts to the elevated hormones that are present near to upcoming period. Now, these tests being so sensitive can detect the pregnancy hormones, but a drawback is the crushing blow to a woman when her period comes. The fact is most pregnancies aren’t known as a pregnancy until after the second missed period and a positive blood test. Hence, “chemical” pregnancy.

A chemical pregnancy is when the egg is fertilized but doesn’t develop any further. Most times, you don’t even know you’re pregnant.
