My son is 1 , he will be 2 September 29th. He weighs 38 lbs and 8 ounces. The doctor said he should go on a diet so what are some good foods he should have and that yall would think he would like ? He eats ravioli , mashed potatoes, hot dogs , i cook homemade meals every night. He doesn’t eat a lot of sweets either. He also drinks chocolate milk bottles every night and I just switched to 1%.

I wouldn’t do the chocolate milk bottles at night anymore unless you’re brushing his teeth after. But no way would I put a 1 year old on a diet either. Just offer more fruits and veggies and good proteins. And water

No more chocolate milk, more fruits and veggies. Watch the pasta.

Firstly, cut the chocolate milk. No need for that. Add more fruits and vegetables in his diet and definitely cut down on processed foods.

Dont diet that baby. In a few months hes gotta have a growth spurt and be 4in taller and still 38lbs. This is the cycle with toddlers. They gain 10lbs in a short period of time, and then theyll have a height spurt and be beanpoles for awhile. And the cycle repeats. I would skip choco milk forsure but the foods you listed arent terrible.

Is he fussy? You mentioned ravioli, mashed potatoes and hot dogs - wasn’t sure if that’s all he eats or if those are just examples.

The more fat in milk has less sugar so switching to 1% doesn’t do much

Check out Ellyn Satter’s resources.

It would also be good to consult with a registered dietician.

More water, less pasta, less chocolate milk at night try regular milk. Wean him off the bottle since it can cause bottle rot if he’s going to sleep with it also.
Less carbs more veggies. But babies tend to gain what they can. I would just let him eat as much as he wants but make sure he gets a good intake of veggies

I would just do regular milk
All that extra sugar from the chocolate u got to think is just sitting on his poor teeth when he sleeps

Cut out the chocolate milk at night first of all. Stay away from fast food, processed food and sweets in excess. I would not start a strict Diät at such a young age but instead, encourage more activity.
