I am concerned about my stitches: Advice?

I’m really concerned about my perineal stitches. When I walk, they burn to the point of tears—no other sign of infection. I know I have very low pain tolerance, but I expected after a few days, it would get easier, not harder. Is this common? When can I expect relief? Any suggestions to help with the pain? I already have an ice pack, and I ordered a donut to sit on.

Go get some of that spray that you can spray down there, I would assume that would help until they come out

The pain isn’t going to go away in a couple of days its going to be least a week or two before the pain get better if its causing so much pain I recommend going to the doctor to see if that’s completely normal or not

Lidocaine spray was a life saver for me. If I were you I’d call your OB if you’re in that much pain though.

Get somewitch hazel pads. Place them on top of your menstrual pad and wear it that way. And the numbing spray.

They take awhile to feel better. As they heal you will feel tightening and stinging, it’s all normal.

you should really be asking your doctor this

Washing the area with ivory soap 2-3 times a day will help.

I’ve had stitches down there twice- once from surgery and once a couple weeks later from childbirth. Both were doctor cuts so they were clean and not tears. Lidocaine spray and take tucks pad put them in the freezer and place them in your pads they were a life saver. If you feel something isn’t right contact your midwife.

Mine were the same so when my midwife came when baby was few days old she swobbed them and it came back that I had an infection in them. I was cut for forceps and then tore aswel so I was in absolute agony from how many stitches I had. I really underestimated how bad it was going to be if I could turn back the clock I would of never had forceps just for that reason…5 months on and they still sting at times. Get onto your midwife or doctor xx

The spray they give you made me burn really bad so I would place a towel in a warm bath and sit on it twice a day, talk to your doctor about it hurting so badly.

I had pain for days and days I went back to the ob and insisted they take a look turns out one of the stitches was left long and stabbing me!!! They had to trim the excess stitch material and then all was golden. I recommend getting the spray also.

I spent a lot of time soaking in a warm bath

Padsicles!!! I swear by them! Freeze with aloe Vera and witch hazel inside of them! Also use Dermoplast pain relieving spray and dose the inside of padsicle before you use it! Don’t be afraid to use an ice pack as well (wrapped in a towel so it doesn’t get too cold)

Many many warm as you can tolerate sitz baths with epsom salts and SOAK. Tylenol if that is something you can take. It’ll get better.

Whatever you do don’t wipe there if you are, get a squirt bottle to clean yourself and use warm water. I noticed if I even wiped once I’d feel sore, also pee does burn so using the water to make sure it’s all washed away helps. Soak yourself in a bath, I found a relaxing bath with salt made me feel great.

The peri bottle with solution and warn water, the Tucks pads

So I had this happen for 6 weeks and thought it was normal eveeyone told me just use witch hazel pads and ice and spray but turns out my body was rejecting one of the stitches I wasn’t infected or anything but my body didn’t heal properly where the stitch rejected so it was hurting more even thougjt it basically looked normal. I’d see ur dr and ask just to make surr
