Contact the IRS and let them know what happened. I don’t know what state you live in, but I’m pretty sure that’s illegal.

In custody procedures they split taxes one year one parent one year the other. If it was the fathers year to claim the child they did nothing wrong. You may not like it but it was the fathers year to claim child. That being said, the other parent just doesn’t get to decide who claims the child. The courts do. The laws do.

I’m guessing you’re more upset that the person who claimed the child you don’t care for? If not what is the big issue? You gave up the year to claim the child.

It’s actually considered tax evasion and is a felony. File your taxes, claim your child when they get kicked back out the IRS will open an investigation (you will have to submit lots of paperwork) and once it’s evident that someone else committed their crime, you get your tax amount and they have to pay lots of fines and fees and can have charges filed against them.

Notify the IRS because if you don’t when you try to claim him next year you can run in to issues.

Why does it matter if it wasn’t your year?

Ask him why? Maybe someone is helping him financially?

Maybe he did it because he’s behind on something and afraid all of his tax money will get taken… is it right? No… buttttttt
