Tips on keeping my home smelling fresh?

So I’m not a huge clean freak, but I’m nowhere near okay with a dirty home… we have a 1.5-year-old, a dog & a cat… does anyone have any tips on how to keep a home smelling fresh? The dog is 100% potty trained, and the cat never goes anywhere but the litter box. I have candles and wax melts, typically only use melts or candle warmers bc I’m scared of a flame with the baby, but I still feel so paranoid and anxious coming home, and my house not smelling good or never want someone to stop by.

I have 4 boys and 2 dogs. I usually burn incense a few times a day. I also have wax burners.

Boil vanilla on the stove. Puts moisture into the house & scent without chemicals

Odoban, I use it in my house, it’s safe around pets and children. It works tons better than febreeze. It actually lifts odors out of furniture and carpet.

Baking soda on the rugs. Sprinkle over the rugs, leave for 15 to 30 mins then vacuum.

I also use a carpet deodorizer. Costs like $2 at dollar general or Wal-mart. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, run a daycare with 5 kids routinely in and out and 2 kids of my own. Works fabulous!

Febreeze. I make my own by putting gain fireworks inside an empty spray bottle, fill it up with hot water, let sit for 5-10 minutes then shake it up. You can spray on all fabrics.

I just mix water with clothes softener in a spray bottle and spray things like my curtains etc that don’t get washed everyday. And the obvious cleaning tasks :rofl: cx

I use incense and Downey Unstoppables Febreze in the pink and black bottle. Amazing!

I use lysol on my fabrics instead of febreeze! Works great!

Get a spray bottle ( cheap plastic 1$ )
Some laundry scented bead like booster ( like downy or febreeze)
Sprinkle a little into the bottle, fill the rest with HOT water , and shake really really good until combined. lightly spray around…

Or, if you like the smell of coffee, a tea candle and coffee beans. Put the beans in container, light the tea candle and put it on top of the beans ( I plan to do this myself when I get some tea candles)

Watch what candle and wax melts you use some of them can be toxic to cats :cat2:. Just leave a window open it’s the best fresh air you can have

Good cat litter febreze tidy cat litter is amazing I also have carpet freshener the stuff you sprinkle in carpet before I vacuum also febreze is good to have and spray down furniture and carpets after vacuuming I like things clean and smelling good I have 4 cats and know how stinky they can be also scoop litter everyday and completely change it once a week or so

We recently pulled all our carpet out and switched to a leather couch.

Helped a TON!

Automatic Airfreshner sprayers , you can get refills at the dollar tree. I use mrclean febreeze surface cleaners and in my wet spray mop. I spray furniture down with febreeze once a week and buy the refill bottles. I use wax melt and candles also.
I put a few unstoppable beads in my vacuum where the filter is to freshen when vacuuming , airwick cones in bathrooms , and periodically place essential oils or fragance oil on wooden clothes pins and clip them to heat vents… also will simmer in small crock pot with no lid water , baking soda ,with orange peels ,whole cloves and cinnamon sticks or cinnamon , vanilla or pumkin pie spice…adding more water when it gets low

If you have a tractor supply near you, go buy a bag of sweet pdz. It is used in horse stalls to control the ammonia smell. Every time I sift through the litter or completely dump the box, I add about 2 cups to the litter box and it’s been a miracle worker!
