Why did you not ask your doctor when you were there?
Your hep C can cause low platelets lots of things can affect.your platelets do you know what your number was on platelets
Best advice is to never ask dr google. It’s nerve wracking but just wait to speak to a medical professional. Google seems to always give the worst case scenario.
My opinion is to wait to see your doctor. I think its ridiculous to stress yourself out even more by reading Google searches and asking people that are not doctors for an answer!
Usually it’s nothing horrible. If so, then you would have been flagged to be seen immediately. Dont stress yourself out. I’ve had low platelets a few times and it was nothing. Wait for the MRI, it will show more.
I’ve had low platelets for SEVERAL years. I believe I was 10 when I was diagnosed with ITP. It depends on the # they were but mine always get very low and don’t require any treatment unless they drop below 50k
I have a high platelet count, I have no idea what it means…
I have had low platelets for over 30 years. My doctor just checks my numbers and is not concerned unless they drop below 50k . They never have so you probably have nothing to worry about. Just have to watch the count which I am sure your doctor will.
The Hep-C probably caused it. Did they run your iron levels? Some meds can do that alone. Be best to speak to your dr
And never ask the wannabe Drs on FB. None of us have the answers and our best guesses could be way off base. Please try to calm yourself and have patience till you can see your REAL Dr. Wrote your questions down so you don’t forget them. God be with you.
I have low platelet count (ITP) which is due to me have 2 different strains of the Epstein Bar virus (mono) in my system and one is still active. I have been as low as 30k and have never needed treatment. I am just monitored for it yearly. I have had it for also 20 years now
I’m sorry to break it down but it basically.means that.you are f*ucked. I hope.you get better tho.
A low platelet count means you are at a higher risk for bleeding. Your platelets aid in blood clotting.
Try to avoid over the counter medications like aspirin that thin the blood amongst other things
Here is a more simpler terms for you. Platelets are the workers in your body that spin webs on any cuts or injury, that is to help heal it. Obviously, if your platelets, the web spinner stuff, are low, that.means you do not have enough web spinner to help heal your injuries. Meaning you will bleed more than you’re supposed to, and if it gets worse, you may bleed to death. Sorry I can not help calm your nerves.
You can bring that platelet count up many ways…1 example is modifying your diet consuming leafy greens. Normal platelet count is 150,000-400,000. Depending on your lab value will provide you insight on how severe your count is.
A low platelet count is a blood disorder that has a long list of possible causes. It is also known as thrombocytopenia.
Reduced platelet content in the blood is not always a serious problem. However, the condition affects the ability of the blood to clot and wounds can bleed severely with this condition.
I spent a lot of time in the hospital as a child with a depleted platelet count. It was called idiopathic thrombocytopenia. It caused a lot bruising, and my blood did not clot. It eventually resolved on it’s own.
Try to put it out of your mind until your doctor’s appointment next week. I know easier said than done. I try to find something to distract myself when I’m worrying about something, maybe that would help you get through the next few days.
Whatever you do, stay away from Dr. Google
Never google your symptoms! It will just keep you freaking out, try to wait until you actually find out from doctor
