Pregnant Ashley Graham Covers ‘Vogue,’ Talks Pregnancy Sex, Acupuncture, and So Much More
Andrew Kreeger
Model and goddess Ashley Grahamhas been really open about her pregnancy and has discussed everything from having sex to getting acupuncture. She’s given fans pregnancy updates along the way and shared a lot about her journey to motherhood.
Ashley is finally getting the recognition she deserves for speaking to issues that are under-discussed for pregnant women. The model and activist will be appearing on the cover of this January’s issue of Vogue.
But, as any mother knows, pregnancy isn’t always easy. Ashley’s been vocal about many aspects of it.
She recently revealed that she has acupuncture done to feel better.
In addition to acupuncture, Ashley relies on others to help her out. She leans on other pregnant women for advice.
She was told by friends about frida, and now swears by the brand.
The one thing she always asks other expecting mothers is about sex.
Speaking about sex, Ashley told Vogue, “I’ve been literally asking every single one of my friends who have had babies or who’re pregnant, like, ‘What positions do you guys do?’ This has to be a normal conversation among mothers.”
Ashley made friends with other pregnant women and moms like Amy Schumer. “There’s just this camaraderie,” Ashley said of her crew of pregnant friends. “It’s a secret society that I didn’t know about.”
“I was like, ‘Come over and I’ll just tell you what I have learned and what I wish I knew,’” Amy told Vogue.
Ashley also reached out to Serena Williams for advice.
“I text her anything that rolls off my mind,” Serena told Vogue. “I was one of those people who wanted to know every ugly detail of what happens … down there… what happens everywhere. Like, why are my nipples so big a week into being pregnant? This makes no sense; the baby doesn’t need to eat yet. I wanted to know every single thing, and I still love talking about it.”
Ashley also told Vogue that she hid her pregnancy for the first four months. “I’ve always had control over my body… but I had this life inside of me saying, ‘It’s not yours anymore, it’s mine.’ And you have to just succumb. And I felt like I didn’t have anyone to talk to.”
These feelings motivated her to talk more about pregnancy on her podcast, Pretty Big Deal.
Both Amy and Serena showed up to do an episode of Ashley’s pod.
Ashley has already done so much to discuss the modeling and beauty industry and what it means to be a woman working in entertainment.
It’s incredible that she’s brought her candor to pregnancy, started real discussions, and encouraged women to be more open with one another about the issues they’re facing.
We are so excited about the work Ashley’s done. We are glad she’ll be on the January cover of Vogue. This mama is a superstar.
