Audrey Roloff has been enjoying the first few weeks as a mom of two after welcoming her newborn son, Bode James Roloff, into the world in January.
Since his birth, the proud mom has been sharing adorable pictures of her little ones, as well as the good, the bad, and the ugly of postnatal life on social media. Now, the former Little People, Big World star is opening up about the meaning behind her son’s unique moniker.
Audrey Roloff Explains Meaning Behind Son’s Name, Bode James
Via a post on Instagram, Audrey explained, “Bode’s name means messenger. We pray for our Bode to be a messenger of the Gospel. That his life would be a message of hope, truth, and love to many.”
Roloff also shared that the name was inspired by her maiden name, Botti, while his middle name is a family name from his dad’s side of the family. Audrey’s husband, Jeremy Roloff, as well as his dad and his grandfather, all have the middle name, James.

She also revealed that she and Jeremy had Bode at the top of their list of potential names from the get-go, but didn’t settle on it until they received a call from Jeremy’s grandmother.
“We were pretty set on Bode (pronounced ‘bo-dee’) during pregnancy but we [were] still tossing around ideas into my 3rd trimester,” she shared on Instagram. “Then one day randomly Jer’s grandma called him said, ‘I have a really good name suggestion for you! What about Bode?!’ We were shook. It was a confirming affirmation.”
Bode was born on January 8 weighing 9.2 pounds and measured 21 inches long. And the growing family, including his big sister Ember, was immediately captivated by his sweet face.

Audrey has been enjoying life as a mom of two. However, postpartum life has been anything but easy. As the mom also shared on Instagram, she was recently diagnosed with mastitis, an infection in the breast that can cause pain, inflammation, and fever.
Thankfully, the new mom is already on her road to recovery and took a moment to share a sweet video of Jeremy reading to Bode and Ember while she took a moment to herself.
What a sweet little family of four they are.
