This Baby Shark Toy May Have Saved a Toddler from Stray Bullet

Baby Shark is known for many things: the catchy (annoying?) song that gets stuck in your head for days, the baby anthem that dawned a tour and merchandise, and now, a Baby Shark stuffed toy is being credited with saving a child’s life.

A toddler sleeping in her home in Wisconsin survived a shootout that took place outside. A stray bullet went through her bedroom wall, but she was saved by a stuffed Baby Shark located 5 to 10 inches from her head.

“If the bullet would’ve came a couple more inches, it could’ve targeted her,” said the girl’s mother, Tanice, to NBC15.

Madison police distributed a press release that revealed they found 45 shell casings on the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured during the fight. The police have not identified any suspects in the gunfight.

Police spokesman Joel DeSpain told CNN that the 45 shell casings recovered “may very well be a record number of shell casings found after one incident of gun violence.”

“It is the police department’s highest priority and we will continue to work with the police, community leaders and other criminal justice stakeholders to address gun violence in our community,” said Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.

“Gun violence is not going to be tolerated in Madison. The people involved in this incident showed reckless disregard to human life, and we are fortunate no one was injured or killed. If anyone knows anything about this, it’s time to speak up,” she continued.

Anyone with information about the crime should call 911 or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266.6014.
