Not everyone is a fan of the entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian‘s line of shapewear called SKIMS. A 23-year-old Adria Barich counts herself among them. In a recent video review she posted on TikTik, the very funny and spot-on Barich does not hold back. In fact, she roasts the shapewear she ordered from SKIMS.
She compares the way her body looks to a number of figures we do not typically associate with “curvy” or “beautiful” including Winnie-the-Pooh. With nearly 1.5 million likes on the review, we think she might have changed some hearts and minds about the prospect of SKIMS’ promise of a “smooth & seamless solutions for every body.”

“This video is for Kim Kardashian, and Kim Kardashian only,” the review opens with a close-up shot of Barich addressing the camera directly. “Hiii Kimberly. What is this?”
The TikTok video which has been viewed over 9 million times goes downhill from there for fans of Kardashian or SKIMS but improves immensely for lovers of comedy.
“I thought Skims were supposed to make me look curvalicious,” Barich continues, showing off the pieces. “Not Winnie-the-Pooh wearing too small underwear.”
“Winnie-the-Pooh wearing too small underwear,” might be the greatest way to describe a thing that you will ever hear. Take a moment to cherish it.
The zingers keep on coming from this reviewer. In another angle, we see a different way the SKIMS are ill-fitting, with a too-tight waistband.
“I look like the Pillsbury Doughboy,” she explained. She turns around to illustrate how the back of the garment fits noting that the SKIMS have produced “two more buttcheeks than I started with.”
Then, Barich begins to question whether she is actually wearing shapewear at all because they are clearly not doing for Barich what they purport to do.
“Why yes, I am wearing shapewear,” Adria mocks. “Oh, you didn’t know? You couldn’t tell?”
“Anyway, that’s all,” she says in conclusion.
Apparently, that was enough as people have flocked to the video and enjoyed her good-humored review of the products. She has received thousands of comments of encouragement.
“It says it’s shapewear,” one person joked in the comments. “It gave you a shape, it just wasn’t specific.”
Well, we suppose this comment is perfect after seeing the review.
“I’ve never seen [someone] so accurately describe skims before,” another person wrote in agreement.
There seems to be some consensus building around the fact that SKIMS might not work for everyone.
In all CAPS one person wrote, “I LITERALLY WASTED $500 ON SKIMS LAST YEAR & IT ALL FELL APART WITHIN A MONTH.”
Perhaps the designers and quality control professionals over at SKIMS should deep a little deeper.
It’s possible that Barich scared people away from the brand altogether. “Canceling my order,” one person who was shook wrote.
It’s not all bad though!
“Skims is actually really good!” one of the few defenders of the brand wrote. “But the sizes is a little off, try getting one size up and a different kind of their shapewear,” the individual suggested.
Yes, let’s all be an apologist for a brand owned by a person with a billion dollars to her name instead of demanding the efficacy of a product that the millionaire is selling! Why not!?
“We all burst out laughing. I looked ridiculous,” Barich told BuzzFeed of the first time trying on SKIMS with her roommates.
“I was just like, what the heck, this is a $34 piece of shapewear that I ordered because I trusted the Kardashian name,” she told the outlet. “And even though I ordered a size that should have fit me, I looked horrible.”
The talented reviewer also told BuzzFeed why she felt the need to speak out about her less than satisfactory experience:
“I knew that there is no way that I was the the only one, and shapewear isn’t something I see a lot of people talking about, especially twentysomethings who use it even if they don’t admit to it. So I thought it was time that someone spoke out about it.”
Barich explained that she was grateful Kardashian was in the shapewear space as there is still some stigma around garments in this category. But, she noted that images on SKIMS’ website and elsewhere are “very unrealistic, even though they are inclusive of different-sized people.”
“They are very touched up, and that creates an unrealistic expectation for consumers who ultimately want to look like her.”

“The sizing is extremely inconsistent,” Barich told BuzzFeed. “I ordered a size small/medium, which typically would fit me perfectly, but the shapewear I received could fit a doll. It makes people feel bad about themselves because a size that normally would fit them is suddenly way too small.”
Kardashian has yet to comment on the now viral video review. We will keep you posted if that changes.
