Back in September, a former contestant on ABC’s The Bachelor, Bekah Martinez, took to Instagram to share a photo of her and her two children. Martinez is the proud mother of a 3-month-old baby boy named Franklin and 1-year-old Ruth.
And she’s also very proud of the fact that she is still breastfeeding both of her children at the same time. On September 25, the 25-year-old shared a photo of her feeding Franklin and using her breast to soothe her daughter Ruth.
Bekah Martinez Defends Breastfeeding Both Children
In the post, Martinez wrote, “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: there is NOTHING weird about feeding and soothing my toddler via breast.” She went on to add that there is also “NOTHING wrong with sharing it via social media.”
“So many moms stop breastfeeding earlier than they want because of stupid pr*cks like the people online who comment, “isn’t she a little too old?”, “we get it, you breastfeed,” or even “that’s disgusting ????.”
“You wanna talk facts? Let’s talk facts,” Martinez continued.
As the proud mom of two explained to those who have shamed her for openly sharing her breastfeeding journey, the American Academy of Pediatrics states that “there is no evidence of psychologic or developmental harm from breastfeeding into the third year of life or longer.”
She went on to quote the American Academy of Family Physicians which states that “it has been estimated that a natural weaning age for humans is between two and seven years,” before revealing that “breastfeeding continues to make an important nutritional contribution well beyond the first year of life as a significant energy source and by providing key nutrients,” according to the World Health Organization.
“So sorry. Not accepting any uneducated, ignorant or self-righteous puritanical bullsh*t today. Bye. Gotta go nurse my 20 month-old,” Martinez concluded her post. And this is far from the first time Martinez has defending breastfeeding her children publicly.
Back in July, Bekah Martinez shared similar photos. However, this time she simply captioned the photos, “Just doin’ my mom thing.”
